Problems trying to install additional DIMM modules :(
Hi there,
I've got a problem trying to add new SDRAM modules to my system.
First of all, this is my System Mainboard:
Manufacterer: Biostar
Model: M7VKA
BIOS ID: 09/06/2000-8363-686A-6A6LMB09C-00
Chipset: VIA KT133/A Chipset
At the moment, I've got a single DIMM module:
Memory Module 1: Spec Tek 128MB 8x(16Mx8) SDRAM PC133U-333-542 (CL3 upto 133MHz) (CL2 upto 100MHz)
I have downloaded the latest driver for my mobo.
And, here goes my problem:
I cannot install any other DIMM module but the one that came with the system.
I have tried with the following modules:
1x64MB PC100
1x128MB PC100
1x128MB PC133
1x256MB PC133
I tried several different combinations, module by module, and trying with the original one as well.
Whenever I try to use another SDRAM module, the computer will beep every two seconds. It will turn on, and you can hear how it's reading the HD and CD/DVD drives; but nothing comes on the screen.
I contacted, more or less, Fujitsu (as you can guess, my system is a Fujitsu) and they don't help. All they know is that the Earth is kind of rounded, but not much more. I've tried to contact the mobo manufacturer as well, but it seems that I've got problems with their web (just the bit related to support).
Any ideas???? :( :(

Simple. I did a search with as the key words. Comes up with one reference to a PDF file. Open that, QED.
As to a new MOBO, is it worth searching for that memory spec with some other suppliers first?? Maybe on a sale-or-return basis??
Mr R., I tried that, with my mobo's name "M7VKA" and didn't work as expected. It did work for the model "M7VKB" though. But thanks lot, now I know what type of memory I'm looking for; I just didn't think it'd have to be that especific. Why the hell do they make so many different models/types?
Fountain: so what mobo and SDRAM have you got?
