The coolest game is chess, but even better when you play chess as a drinking game. My friend has a chess board with the pieces made out of glass witch can be filled with Alcoholic beverages.usualy one player gets vodka(for white) and the other
brandy or whisky(for black).
When one's piece is captured, one must drink the entire piece.

How about strip chess? When you lose a piece you take off an article of clothing. When you lose you have to do the winner a sexual favor of his/her choice. I gotta try this...

No offense, but that is a ridiculous statement. If someone has the capability to reach gm then their talent is almost certainly recognized by 16, if not much earlier. And if you were deterred by the "cool" factor, then you would definitely have been deterred by other obstacles. Do you seriously believe you could be a grandmaster now?if it was cool and ok, i would be a grandmaster by now

I was indeed a prodigal son, beating all and sundry wotever there age/ability. when u r at school it gets tougher..its not like we were loaded or anything.
So.....I was a county champion, then I gave it up...I had the potential when I was 5, so do you believe just because I only reached a county a s s whooping level before i retired (ie Lancs/London etc) that I couldnt have gone on? NOT all grandmasters showed potential when they were young...read the books man.

So what makes you think that you could have been a gm? NEARLY all gm's showed their talent very early. I cannot think of any grandmasters who were not nationally or internationally recognized at 16, although I am sure there are a few. So you were a county champion. That is incorrect. Hard work, dedication, and dreams will only take you so far. I've worked very hard at chess, but I know that I will never be a grandmaster. Everybody has limits imposed on them that are innate.I agree. not all gms are born talented...

Chess is a game of the mind. It is about tactics and strategy. Memorization is not even necessary to be an excellent player. And in fact, the reason chess is so good is because it is reduced to a contest of wills and minds between 2 players. That is the best kind of game, whatever it may be.
I vote for Halo, or Gorean Chess.
