    MS is too expensive

I think that Win2k and WinXP Professional is too expensive and OEM's won't sell systems with WinXP Pro but rather WinXP Home version unless you special order or something. Maybe Linux isn't so bad after all. hmmm.
    I compile code with:
    Visual Studio.NET beta2

AAAAA!!! anyone else notice dean may be reverting back into a linux zealot!!?? WHAT'S WRONG WITH THE WORLD TODAY???

Maybe sunlight (who was controlling him) died in the terrorist attacks, and now Dean is slowly being reformatted (he's a robot, remember?) and piece-by-piece being restored??

Let's keep the guesses comin! Just the opposite of the last thread where we made up reasons for him turning pro-MS.

What, at academic prices? 45.00 for Windows 2000 is comparable to buying a Linux distribution, and you get ME thrown in too. When XP comes out, there will undoubtedly be a similar deal. That doesn't sound expensive to me.

They are both around $275 USD. I don't know what pounds are. I don't deal in fake money.

I don't like Linux and I don't like Windows, infact I don't like any of them. I'm thinking of using an OS and not hooking it up to the internet. I think that's the best answer.

I'm not a child, I have to pay the adult prices. I just seen the price for WinXP Pro, okay it's more like $250 USD. Not a penny cheaper. I doubt WinXP will work with hardware and you can't re-install it more than twice or something like that. I'm starting to really wish that the terrorists would strike Microsoft next.

I should have picked some other occupation!

What occupation is that where your OS doesn't matter and you don't need to be connected to the internet?

Methinks your true profession might be that of troll.

The internet is a mistake because nobody can police it. It is mostly a waste of time too. I'm glad that the .coms failed.

I knew it! Your occupation is as a troll!

That's good because I was really starting to worry about your mental state.

I hope you are having a good time. Nothing like a little humor to keep the day rolling along.

    Dearie me... I laughed, anyway.

    > I'm not a child, I have to pay the adult prices.

Well, you're enough of a child not to be aware of world currencies, evidently. 45 translates to about $70, or about 100 Canadian dollars. I'd be highly surprised if you don't have a similar academic programme over there.

Of course, if you're no longer a student at all, there are some OEM copies here at 115 (about $170) - but that's not exactly expensive if you're working using it. Buy more than four and you get a volume discount. Almost no-one pays the full retail price.

this does not deserve a reply

I think you should get a choice of installed os when you buy
    Whicho/s do you want installed
    Win95/98/Me/2000/NT/XP
    Linux/Unix/BSD
    BEos

virtually every machine sold (except servers) come with preinstalled Windows!
