    Linux...

I am running linux Mandrake 8.1 and was wondering how I could add a command (httpd) for apache so I don't have to use /usr/local/apache/bin/apachect start-stop-restart every time... just httpd start.

why are you starting and stopping your apache server all the time (unless you are updating something)? Why not just have it load when you boot the machine, and unload when ever you power down (if ever)

This sounds like a good place for a link:
    • (from home directory or other location in your path)
      ln -s /usr/local/apache/bin/apachect httpd
