    removing default tasks?

    alrighty folks, here's the lowdown:

Uninstalled mcafee virus scan 4.5 simply to re install it, and after countless hours of removing keys that mcafee missed, the MSI installer throws a fit that it can't finish the installation because it can't create the default tasks needed.

Anyways, I was wondering if anybody knew how to remove default tasks from windows xp. the task scheduler seems to still be able to let me schedule the crappy anti virus tasks.

I'm talking in jumbles, so try and weed through it and take a shot.

I'm not sure what you mean, but you could try msconfig, and try disabling stuff. There's also the Windows Installer Clean Up utility that's supposed to help fix broken msi installs (by removing all traces of the program from the msi logs).
