This always happens! I was getting ready to take my stuff to the lab to actually get some work done, and I was under my desk, unplugging a serial cable, when my boss walks up...
"Hey Jeremy, haven't seen ya in the lab today"...
"Yeah, I was just taking care of some things before I moved all my stuff there"
"Well, you're gonna want to wait a while, you see all those people over there?" (He points to a conference room I can barely see, much less see into)
"No, but I'll take your word for it"
"Well, they're about to take a half hour tour of the lab, and I wouldn't want you to be in their way or vice versa"
Sometimes, I feel bad that I don't get much work done, but then crap like this happens, and I really don't anymore. Oh yeah - I'd like to go warn the people that are taking the tour - our lab would be better termed a closet. It's a room about 8 by 12 or so, surrounded on all sides by all manners of wires, computers, terminal equipment, tools, archaic junk (at least 2 TRS-80s, complete with cassette drives), and other assorted crap. It's really neat to be in, unless you find breathing fun. Yesterday, there were 4 people in there, and we could hardly move. If there were many more than that in there, we'd have to call the fire department to get us out. That's better... Had to vent a little.
