I heard this one on the radio this morning too... they (M$) are openly admitting that they do this... I'm not the only one that's ........ed apparently... they can even track whether you are using pirated music and whatnot... what a croc...

I'll be damned if I ever use Media Player while connected to the net again!

    >>what the hell do you think .NET is?

That comment wreaks (sp?) or stupidity.

Hmmm...it doesn't seem too shocking or terrible, but it definately could be used to tear your privacy to shreds. (Note to self: Quit watching porn with windows media player. )

Why do you need to enter so many details into the .NET Passport? So they can further your entertainment experience?

Indeed, I also do not particularly enjoy multiple exclaimation marks, although they are acceptable, I believe a single exclaimation mark is sufficiant for any comment.

any the thing that buggs me is they didn't tell anybody this raises questions!

how long have they ben doing this? what else that you do do they moniter? where do they draw the line in privacy? and what the hell are they thinking? "you can always turn it off, after we tell you its there.hehehe", "we are focusing on security and trustibility"? WTH!

Live in the US? Got a phone with Quest or AT&T?

"An appeals court has ruled unconstitutional privacy protections that require phone companies to obtain the consent of a subscriber before using their phone records for marketing purposes. The anti-privacy decision is inconsistent with previous constitutional tests of privacy laws such as the Fair Credit Reporting Act. The suit was brought by US West, which like many telcos wants to be able to make money from consumer data without getting permission from the people concerned. In a dazzlingly self-serving piece of corporate doublespeak, the company called the decision "definitely consumer friendly" because it allows the company to offer new services more efficiently. Junkbusters President Jason Catlett retorted that under this logic "a burglar might call his thieving ``homeowner-friendly'' because it makes consumers' homes feel more spacious and is more efficient than removalist services." [NY Times]"
You can opt-out, but your info is sold to the telemarketers within 24hrs of registering your phone, so be quick.

Goes with GB jr's new 'sneek and peek' search. (can enter your property, search, copy info then leave, all without telling you)

Or with GB jr's new martial order which allows you to be detained incomunicado, indefinately with no rights or legal representation. Until you can be tried under martial law in a miltary court and possibly executed.

Or our (Aust) section 54b. More than three people meeting in a public place can be deemed a protest rally and you need a permit for a protest rally so you can be arrested.

Or our 'proceeds of crime' legislation. Can confiscate all property if suspected that it was bought / obtained with illegal funds _before_ conviction in court. Makes it very hard to defend yourself with no money. Also implies guilt if appear in court after all assets confiscated.

We are allowing this to happen. Time to put up or shut up.

i think you're overreacting. anything congress or the president does can be declared unconstitutional by the supreme court. the bill of rights forbids search without a warrant. it's not easy to get a warrant.
Or with GB jr's new martial order which allows you to be detained incomunicado, indefinately with no rights or legal representation. Until you can be tried under martial law in a miltary court and possibly executed.
this is also prohibited by the bill of rights. citizens can't be detained without rights. the detainees at camp x-ray aren't citizens. i don't agree with the lack of POW status, though. citizens can get legal representation, for free if necessary. they cannot be tried under a military tribunal because they are citizens. period.

i can't argue with austria's new laws because i don't know how your government works.

Why do you scream into your microphone?

The best way to handle computer rage is to throw your monitor out of your window. Or drop your laptop down the stairs (that was an accident, an expensive accident.)

I think it's funny that the FBI use Windows to spy on people.
