    love and distance

    Hi!
Here is my problem : love and distance.
Do you have any experience in this area? There are probably many of us, who had to live - for a given reason - far away from the beloved person.

It's really hard, but I have really good experiences.

Such relations were usually more stable then "normal" ones.
    What do you think?

Btw, all you out tehre, who work in the IT area, probably have to travel sometimes, isn't it? How is it, to be far away from your family, from your partner?

    P.s.
Is this an off-topic, or what?
    Sorry, if so ;(

hmm... ok, here's my situation. I go to a University that makes it so that I am there for 3 months, then home for 3 months, in a continuous cycle...

THIS HAS BEEN HELL ON MY LOVE LIFE...

I have lost two amazing young women to that lifestyle... and I nearly gave up on it, until now... I'm dating a young lady who not only lives 4.5 hours away from me when we are both home, but is 6 hours away from me when she's at school... good part is that we are only 1.5 hours apart when we are both at school...

while it sucks to be apart that much, there are positives to it. There's so much to look forward to when we finally do see each other, and it all started out with us just talking... JUST talking.. and I think that built a more solid relationship that will make it last...

There are ups and downs to it... but it can work if both people are into it.

Experience... well, a little bit. Yes, 4800 miles is a bit far away... about a continent and a half, including another language ( English ), and timezone ( -6 ) which might be an additional barrier in itself.
There exist situations and problems, that wouldn't even come up if you could actually see each other and if it were only for an hour.

It's hard. But then, sometimes there aren't any alternatives. You cannot change distance with wink of your hand, and changing love is not an option.

*sigh* I'm probably not good for giving out advice, for I'm back to being single...

She was so Blonde, she spent 20 minutes looking at the orange juice can because it said "Concentrate."

When in doubt, read the FAQ.
    Then ask a smart question.

Don't you think, it's like a test : if the relation is really strong, it will survive.

Yes, that's the point. Being together with the girl of my dreams after 1 month of loneliness is a very different feeling.

As I told you, I've found more ups then downs in such relationships.

Carlos, all I can say is good luck to you... I've gone for over 2 months without seeing the girl i was dating, and that was really hard... but we made it... granted, I'm no longer with her, but maybe that was a circumstance of us being in college and realizing that there's no point in trying to make something work from so far away at this point when we can both have fun and not have all that pressure at the time being...

I don't know... it's a hard road to travel... one which I hope to one day conquer.. and maybe I've found the perfect passenger in my quest for long distance love... but I've said that before... time will tell my friend, time will tell...
