    GeForce4

Well, nvidia's already put out the new geforce.... How long's the 3 been out? Less than a year? And almost nothing's taken advantage of it yet (because, guess what, almost no one has them!).... What sort of stupid idea is this?

its a good idea. It means in about 6 months we can all go out and get a good value GeForce3 rather than pay the earth for one before you need it. Without the GF4 coming out the prices of GF3 wont fall.

personally... i think it kicks some sweet booty... granted... as you say, nothing really takes advantage of it... but I'm a performance freak... i can't wait to get my hands on one and run in through some benchmarks of my own...

Same sort of situation - my PC has AGP, but not AGP v2 - I can only use PCI or AGP 1 graphics cards... They tease me so...

question 1... why are you all not building your own machines...

question 2... if you are even moderately serious about gaming... shouldn't you have checked these things out before you bought them?

suggestion 1... replace your M/B... they're not that expensive these days ya know...

    Answer 1 - because I bought it 3 years ago - I didn't know anything about computers

    Answer 2 - see answer 1 (AGP 2 wasn't out when I bought it)

Answer 3 - later this term....

ahh... see, having an old machine without options is acceptable... buying a new one unequipped, however, is not.

Yeah - 1 and 2... AFAIK 2 came out in January of 2000 and any computers made before that won't have the new type of slots...

And we all have boosted our AGP slots to max multiplier (4x) in the BIOS haven't we.

    >now its almost getting outdated

A video card is outdated when there is a game you really want that it cant run...

It took 3 years for that to happen with my Stealth II G460.

Just because some video card comes out offering better frame rates and graphics doesnt mean to get it...wait until you need it...

I got a GeForce 2 about 2 months ago because i needed it...all because Mechwarrior 4 ran at 1 fps...
