    Bare in mind that being OpenSource there are areas you can't protect that you could if it was closed source. Ie, network encryption code for computer games.

    I'd say that's the only downside

    Open Source Software are also attacked by hackers see this latest example.
    This is an assembly language board for fasm assembler written in phpBB.
