well ... this idea started, when i asked a newbie, sending a PM, to come for chat, and, (s)he could not even reply because,
    newbies can't PM board members
How do you know why he didn't reply? It sounds like this person simply did not want to talk to you honestly. People only use this board because they have questions or they can help out on their free time. I'm not sure who or how many people are looking for friends or chit chat, but maybe it's a waste of your time here.

I agree. Choosing a programming forum like CBoard for socializing will... make you feel very lonely. I personally don't come here for that. Granted, I don't use the internet for socializing anymore anyways. The whole concept gets very screwed on this medium. But that's another matter...

I onlu use PMs in here for board related issues and the occassional chat pertaining to computers or programming in general. Those very few PMs I ever got not having to do with any of that where quickly trashed and ignored.
The programmer’s wife tells him: “Run to the store and pick up a loaf of bread. If they have eggs, get a dozen.”
The programmer comes home with 12 loaves of bread.

Until you can build a working general purpose reprogrammable computer out of basic components from radio shack, you are not fit to call yourself a programmer in my presence. This is cwhizard, signing off.

    Server not found

Firefox can't find the server at cboard.myspace.com.
    * Check the address for typing errors such as
    ww.example.com instead of
    www.example.com

    * If you are unable to load any pages, check your computer's network
    connection.

    * If your computer or network is protected by a firewall or proxy, make sure
that Firefox is permitted to access the Web.

That's because this isn't a socializing network. Most people don't even disclose their names, there's no point.

I know all the chicky-babes love us programmers (Esp Todd Burch -- if you've seen a picture of him**). Shame they can't PM us, that way I could get rid of that girl that dances on the start button...

    lol, jk.

BTW, ** Todd the girls at Uni say you're S-X-Y -- they saw that picture you posted a while back

I think Mario and Mats are real names of the respective members

lolz. Didn't think anyone was nub enough to actually try that url, it was an obvious confabulation. The point is, this isn't myspace, if that is what you expected, then you will be somewhat disappointed. This board is all about programming, and computers, thats pretty much it. There is some discussion on other topics of interest, but no real socializing unless you consider heated political/religious/coding style arguments to be socializing, in which case forget what I said about being disappointed, you will fit right in.

Last I checked I knew his age, but I'm not going to spoil that without permission first.
Suffice to say that manav is a little diddly-daddly even though his age.

thanks Elysia, that's a little secret of ours to keep!

if you stop thinking about C for a while, then, you will find that, cboard can be anything:
    - Chat Board
    - Community Board
    - Crazy Board
    - Cool Board
    - Conversation Board
and so many other possibilities ...
my fault was that i don't always happen to assume C means the C language!
    so i clicked the link

and i know this is not a place for meeting people, most of them are so rude (i am talking about experienced ones) they will not even reply you. wow! you could have said a polite no. but no! that's too much to ask for i guess. instead no reply. how arrogant!

I agree there's a little bit of attitude by some of the regulars. Actually I'm even surprised at the former candid ones that recently... after a certain event... started to sound more and more, ermm, stuckup.

But such is life and you shouldn't take that at face value, because quiet frankly those same people are in the front line when it comes to help you solve whatever problem you have with your code. I just wished sometimes they came back to earth and... you know, made dumb posts and laughed with everyone else. In short, being more good-natured instead of assuming everything which they aren't involved is a waste of time.

Can someone enlighten me as to what that certain event was ? I wasn't active for quite some time in between and when i came back, i could see no regulars All posts were by new people. So i was wondering what happened to everyone. Some of the people i remember who were regular back then are Ober, Axon, RoD, quzah.

most of them are so rude
I pretty much agree. I guess it has to do something with the fact that they think they know a little more than the newbies here. They expect you to know the etiquette of posting on online forums even if it is your first time and if you don't they'll flame you
