As you all know we recently upgraded the boards to VBulliten V3.0.0. During the upgrade some user permissions, styles, and other features were changed. We are working hard to correct these issues, but it will take time. Please use this thread to report any such problems.

Thank you for bearing with us.

Does this mean the old style will be restored?

kermi3
03-27-2004, 11:33 PM
The old style will not be completely restored so that we can accomidate the new features available on this version of VBulliten. However, we are working on modifying the style to make it better.

not sure I should post this here, but I can't see any posted code unless I do a "quote" on the post...

I don't have a smiley's box.......any idea why? I do not have any code tags to choose from. Basically when posting i have no tags.......

Go to User CP->Edit Options->Miscellaneous Options. You probably just have basic editor selected.

Haven't been able to find a way to mark a particular forum read. Under quick links all you have its mark forums read which affects all of them.

Either that or I'm blind (which is possible)

If the code in a code tag is too wide (width exceedes the screen width) the scollbar for the code window disappears. One example is in this thread:

http://cboard.cprogramming.com/showthread.php?t=51137

Test:

iiiiiiiiiiiiiinnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnttttttttttttttt tttttttttttttttt mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmaaaaaaaaaaaaaa aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiii iiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiii innnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnn nnnnnnnnnnnnnnnn()
{
return 0;
}

While we're making changes, why not add a few more smileys to be used in appropriate situations? :)

Magos

Hm, another bug found. If you enter a too long text in the code tag, there will be spaces in it (see my reply above) where the line was breaked in the text form.

Potential bug, or my own stupidity. When I try to tell the forum my MSN Messenger handle, I get an error saying that the handle is invalid.

Make sure you include "@msn.com" or "@hotmail.com" or whatever

I agree.....more smileys are always good.....what about a STFU smiley or maybe a 'You're stupid" smiley - hehehehehe

The scroll bars in the code tags didn't show up for me in IE6, but in Opera 7.23, they work fine.

With Opera and IE Ver: 6.0.2800.1.1106.xpsp2.030422-1633 the scroll bars show up in the
code tags just fine

One small thing: The icon for each topic used to have a little black dot on the topics you have posted in. Well I miss that little black dot.

is there any way to get that FAQ link at the top of the page to link to the Programming FAQ instead of the "how do i post a message" type of FAQ like it does right now?

here are some good smilies:

I believe there is now a white arrow instead of a little black dot.

Thantos
03-28-2004, 08:35 PM
So it is, black dot > little white arrow

Sorry Axon, but I disagree with those... they look kinda cheap and wannabe-forum-ish to me. Sort of like Flashdaddee (awesome forum btw... :p). I really like Prelude's though :D

**EDIT**
Wow, in the time it took me to type a reply, about 10 other posts popped up...

I don't know if it just me that couldn't find it, but.. where do you go to change avatar and "registered user" thing?

axon
03-28-2004, 11:30 PM
in your user cp on the left hand side you have an "edit avatar" option

Hunter2
03-28-2004, 11:30 PM
I don't know about "registered user", but avatar you can change in the user CP. Top of the page, right under "Bugs (and strange things...)" In the CP, there's a link for "Edit Avatar".

Well, yeah.. but the options I see is whether to use my current avatar or not use one; no option to change to another avatar.

Thantos

Its most likely a two step process to change avatars. You stop using your current one, then select another one to use

You must spread some Reputation around before giving it to Aran again.
ahahahahhahahahaha
omg...i love this stupid reputation thing

i see that as

"you must bring everyone else down equally"

This reputation thing, I sense that it's prone to abuse/misuse. I request that it be disabled.

kermi3
03-29-2004, 12:18 AM
The reputation rating has a lot of safe guards built into it to prevgent abuse. It would be very difficult if not impossible to have a "reputation war." If it becomes a problem then it will be disabled - or it will become harder for one person to effect another's overall rating. How much your reputation votes count depend on how long you've been here, your post count, and you're reputation.

**EDIT**
Thantos, you wanna try the 2-step process for us and tell us if it works? I don't feel like accidentally deleting my avatar

this is not a bug bot something which I personally find really annoying: the signature is squeezed up right underneath the message body. When the message body has only one line, it gets really cluttered. Is there a way to have all the signatures align with the buttom of the post, rather then right after the message? Look at picture below (using cheez as example :) )

axon

this would look much nicer:

Avatars have been fixed and enabled. Just enter a file and click save changes.

how about a spelling checker? :p :p :p

Sorry Kermi3, I couldn't resist :D

Were the scroll bars from the code boxes purposely removed? If not then its a bug that they are gone.

I miss them already :(

I miss them already :( They don't seem to be working in some browsers, so I disabled them entirely. (In IE 5.2 for Mac OS X, adding scroll bars hid all of the code shown in a code box.)

Serves them right for using a Mac :)

Any way to get the scroll bars as a user preferenece?

Like someone said before, what happens to people without a mousewheel? I tried arrow keys and pageup/down, they didn't work.

It doesn't just show the entire code posting?

Hunter2

Oops, didn't realize you'd updated that. Last time I'd checked, it only showed a box that you had to navigate with a scrollwheel or middle mouse button.

That minimum post length thing is annoying. I couldn't just post "SoulSeek." in a thread, I had to add useless verbage after it. Can't we bump it down to something more reasonable (I assume it's at 10 characters now?), like 3? 4?

what does this reputation thing even do? some jerk just came along and put some bad rep on me now it's telling everyone i'm a psychopath, be it true or not. I think it should be disabled too
