Hey...

I just bought a sound card for my computer. It works great, and I like it a lot. However, when I play DVDs, the picture jerks every few seconds but the sound is fine. Any suggestions as to what is causing this? Any help would be appreciated.

Thank you,
Drew

depending on how bad it is, im thinking it might just be a scratched dvd, that happens sometimes. I'm almost positive it's not your new sound card.
Hey nice name, im not the only one who's cursed with that one.

Could be a DMA conflict between your new sound card and your dvd drive. See if you can adjust the settings for either one. You should also consult the vendor of your dvd drive to see what known issues are present between its devices and others in one's system. Sometimes those visits are invaluable.

Just a shot in the dark, but could it be something to do with your video card (maybe if its a real old one or something).

I had the same problem you have now, and it turned out to be not enough system ram. Like stated above, it could also be your video card. Usually an 8 meg with lots of ram is fine, but 16 meg is the minimum needed with less than 128 megs or so. Also, a processor over 400 mhz helps. Hope this helps.

Hey,

Well thank you for your help. I figured it out. It turned out that I had the wrong sound output in my PowerDVD software.

Thank you,
Drew
