I just upgraded (clean install) from Win98SE to Win2k Pro and the burner was working fine with Win98SE and Adaptec but when I upgraded to Win2k Pro Adaptec only recognizes the burner (A Matshi-ta [Panasonic] 8x4x32 CD-RW) as a CD-ROM. I also tried CloneCD which wouldn't work. I have used the same software (Burning Applications [Adaptec and CloneCD] and Operating system [Win2k Pro]) on a different computer with totally different hardware and had no problems what so ever.
I assume that it is some setting or little driver issue but I have been unable to figure it out. Does anyone have any ideas?
Thank You!

Goto the manufacture of the cd drive's website and download new drivers, possibly a win2k driver. Second, get Nero ...free if you have to. Adaptec is the most unacceptable software I've seen.

sometimes win2k has problems recognizing hardwares. in win2k(i used both pro & server), my printer(connected through the printer port) was never recognized or picked up by the comp, i had to use all my skils for hours just to print one page...but with xp, there's no problem...no problem at all.

A couple years ago I had some ATAPI problems with my burner and windows 2000. If your not at the latest service pack (sp3 I think?) I'd goto that and see what happens. If that doesnt work, a Google search brings up a lot of windows 2000/burner issues. And I have to agree on Nero. It blows everything else out of the water.
