I need (or rather want) a new mouse, but I can't decide what to go for, so I'm looking for some opinions.

I'm considering a wireless one, but I have no experience with them. How quick do they get through the batteries. Do they work as well? How's about that time delay when starting up after being inactive for some time, is that a pain?

I have seen this one by Memorex (http://www.ebuyer.com/customer/products/index.html?product_uid=27573) which is pretty cheap, anyone have it?

What do you people have ?

Your thoughts, if you please ... :)

I just got a logitec optical wheel mouse. It may not be love but it's close. :D

Really nice smooth action. Never sticks or skips. Great for gaming and about anything else. Wheel is handy for web browsing. Don't even need a mouse pad. And best of all no more cleaning lint out of the inards. Got it for $15 US at Walmart.

Mine's corded (ps2) though so I don't know about battery life on a wireless. My guess is that a wireless optical might eat batteries. The led is pretty bright.

I have this (http://www.logitech.com/index.cfm?page=products/details&CRID=486&CONTENTID=5061&countryid=18&languageid=1) and it rules! (i was nice enough to give you the uk site ;) So much easier to take it around places in your room. The batteries in the mouse last a month or two and the batteries in the keyboard last for around 4 or 5 months. I bought rechargable alkelines so its sweet.

hey all, thanks for your replies. I agree Logitech are good, that's what I have at present. I thought about it hard, and I really don't think I can handle recharging batteries, even if it is only once a month. I'm a lazy sod when it comes to that kind of thing, and I can see myself being mouseless for a period of time when the batts are rechargin  Having said that, the Logitech keyboard+mouse face_master gave are v nice looking :)

I think I can see myself spending hours in the shops now, just standing there holding a mouse to make sure it fits perfectly into my hand. You reckon I'll get kicked out the shop ?! :D

I use a wired Optical Mouse from Microsoft - I love it - and it was only $25 US. They had a special at Circuit City - not sure if England has a Circuit City but maybe a similar store will have it at a similar price.

This should be the URL to the product otherwise just goto www.circuitcity.com and check it out - it's now only $19.99US

I have a wired optical from logitech, I have a huge mess in my room so it's useful for going over paper work, I had a MS one. But if I changed paper (paper is everywhere) the mouse pointer would flip to the opposite side of the screen!

I use a Logitech cordless mouseman wheel.

Although it is not optical, it is the best thing I ever bought.

Batteries (2xAAA) last 6 months of heavy use.

Re-chargeable batteries are a no no in this type of device I think.

It is superb for the web, games and everything!:D

I'm just assitin here right now with my factory Compaq "ball" wheel mouse. I've found this thing to be pretty dependable...never has failed me yet. I just don't like other mouses....I'm really very attached to this one. :D
