> Price with AMD Duron 1.1GHz, 200 Bus: $ 445
If that's the package, you may want to look at this:

CPU (http://www.buymstar.com/detailsCPU.asp?pid=676)
Motherboard(Asus A78NX) (http://www.partspc.com/store/pwsmb.htm)
Monitor (http://www.cmicomputer.com/cgi-bin/quikstore.cgi?product=mon17ktc)
Hard Drive(6th one down) (http://www.pricewatch.com/1/26/2119-1.htm)
Case with power supply(first one) (http://www.pricewatch.com/1/74/2871-1.htm)
RAM (http://www.dvcentury.com/Merchant2/merchant.mv?Screen=PROD&Store_Code=DVC&Product_Code=88-2100-2561%28Detail+Specs%29)
Windows XP Professional Upgrade - $25

I get the Windows upgrade cheap since I'm a student, but, I'll be building that pc for $417.62 and that includes WinXP Pro. It does not however include a mouse, keyboard or speakers as those are cheap and everybody has a few extras laying around.

Build your own system. Those prices really aren't that great. I'm not sure about Intel prices, but I know you can build their most expensive AMD computer for much less. If you shop around that is ;)

You can get a complete AMD system with Windows XP for under $300

If you want older and slower you can get even cheaper of around $150 for a complete system with like 900mhz and Windows included.

just goto....

That site has already been listed in my reply, and they are not the best for good deals. They are good, but not the best. For example, my pc that I'll be building will have 256mb of new/fairly new DDR ram, and a 1,670mhz AMD XP CPU, WindowsXP, a 40gb hard drive and a 17 inch 1280 reso monitor for a little over $410.
(oh, and the motherboard is good and has 6 channel surround sound and good video included, not to mention lan)

Well, when do you plan on purchasing new equipment?
Soon soon (I need it now dammit!!!)

Or, slowly, and eventually?

I'm going to be purchasing all of the later tonight or tomorrow, and *hope* to have all of it to fool around during my christmas break. I'll let you know about pricing, and shipping quality if you want?

- edit -
I've known several tech heads who have boughten equipment from all of those sites, so, I guess they're pretty good.

well, umm, you see, im a little strapped for cash, so, it'll be several months yet, so if you could inform everyone how different sites are, well know that for future notice.

Shadow, I went through your list, added it up, minus a couple shipping costs, and I believe that its more like $450.00

That isn't what I came out with, but still, a matter of that much money doesn't matter to me.

Besides...

Mine is Athlon XP 2000+ (1,670mhz) and not only that, but Duron is AMD's "spare parts".

Once again, the more sites you can look at, the better.
I'm just going with the package I listed..
