Let's play a game.

It's called the Interesting Post Game and I invented it (or at least I've never heard of it). Here is how it works:

1. Join a new message board.
2. With your first post, make a topic relevant to the forum you are posting in.
3. Count the replies.

The person with the most replies 24 hours after the thread is posted will win. This can be a timed competition or it can have an all time leader-board that we consistently try to top. However, it is essential that you post in a forum as a new member with absolutely no credibility with the regular members. The topic can be extremely interesting or extremely controversial... however if your topic gets closed, then your time is up. A game master (moi), shall be the judge of whether or not the topic is relevant to the forum. It is also worth mentioning that the content of your post does not have to be true. If you are a man and you want to make a topic about how you have really heavy periods if you eat a lot of meat during ovulation, then you are allowed so long as it is relevant to the forum.

I imagine this game has some flaws that I'm not recognizing, so if you can think of how to improve it, then please suggest. If you wish to try this, then post a link to your results here.

UPDATE - Current Rules:

1. Only one entry per person, per day.
2. Your entry must be submitted within one hour of posting the thread.
3. No shockingly offensive content. This game is not meant to hurt people emotionally. Any entry deamed too offensive (decided by the other players) will be disqualified.
4. Your own replies do not count toward your total.
5. The topic of the discussion is allowed to change so long as it continues to remain within the relevancy of the forum.

Like for instance posting just for the sake of a competition?

Sure, why not? It's not spamming to anyone else, you're simply trying to start an interesting discussion. It's really a game of who can be the most interesting, except you choose the group to interest. It's less for the sake of competition and more for the sake of experiment. The competition side of it is just to intice more people to try. I'm personally curious to see what topic can be introduced to what group that gets the most significant amount of response.

One more rule... you are disqualified if you post something that is shockingly offensive. That is to say if you were to post as a Neo-Nazi in a Holocaust Survivor forum and only insulting the group to get a rise out of as many people as possible. I suppose the idea of "shockingly offensive" should be mutually agreed upon by the people taking place in the competition.

Good, good. I will think about it, too. I'm wondering right now what would yield the best results... perhaps a current event post... or perhaps a complex question to a special interest... or perhaps just an "Introduce yourself" topic.

One more possible problem as there is no way that you can check for this. I would appreciate one (or at least just a few) entr(y/ies) per person. That is to say, someone isn't trying to increase their odds by posting a ton of topics all over the internet.

I should really ban you for encouraging people to post just for the sake of posting, even if it is on-topic on whatever forum

... 90% of the General Discussion posts are for the sake of posting... do we only speak to people when we want a factual answer out of them? Have you never posted just to see what people think? I never said you weren't allowed to post something you have a curiousity about. This is the internet... it's about interaction and response. I'm here to learn and I'm fully willing to admit that I've posted things that I wasn't really interested in just to give people the opportunity to have a nice discussion.

One entry per person should do it, I guess. I can seem to think of a reason to be any more than that.

Well... you've got about 8 replies in half an hour here... not bad going.

Yes, but this post is against the rules.

... and by against the rules, I mean that it's not my first post, not that I have any credibility with the regulars, what-so-ever.

Oh, and you made me think of another rule! Your own replies do not count toward your total! If you pull that out, I don't have nearly as many replies.

With your first post, make a topic relevant to the forum you are posting in.
I played this kinda trick a month back in Yahoo! Answers but they removed my question within half an hour and sent me "community guidelines violation" email.

Spamming other boards/forums for the sake of a competition is ridiculous. We would not want to be included in that type competition so it's really not fair to the other boards/forums to go and spam them. It's probably just as much against their rules as it is ours.

He said "make a topic relevant to the forum you are posting in.", so it wouldn't be spam.
