Hey guys...this is kind of inspired by the "Live free or die hard" thread, because it's also about a big blockbuster movie.

I went and saw Transformers last night, and honestly I thought it was amazing. It has to be one of the best movies that I have seen this summer. The storyline was very simple, but yet it was also very well developed. It wasn't just a shoot-em-up action movie, but actually had substance to it. Having said that, however, it had some sweet action scenes. I liked the acting a lot. And the special effects and animation has to be some of the best I've ever seen in my life.

Have you guys seen it and what do you think?

That's great. I haven't seen it yet, but I plan to go see it asap. I went to see Die Hard, the new one, last night for some reason ... and we ended up going to see the hostel 2 ... which definitely wasn't amazing!

I was going to make a thread about this but decided not to.

Excellent movie, great special effects, Shia was awesome, and regardless of what critics might say Michael Bay comes out on top with this one. They took what really was a kiddie topic concerning old school kiddie toys and made it into a huge summer blockbuster film.

Two thumbs up. Way up.

I was thinking about seeing Die Hard today and since I haven't got anything else to do, I may as well see Transformers afterwards.

I think the movie was hilarious. Did anyone notice how many times the GMC logo was taking the whole screen? This movie redefine product placement.

"Does anyone have a cell phone"
"Yeah, I have a NOKIA!"

And all the good "cars" were produced by GMC, while all the ones who got blown to pieces were from other producers.

Yes this was definitely on purpose. With American automakers reeling they are resorting to movies and good old strategic product placement to get their names and products back out there.

But you gotta admit. The new Camaro. Sweet. It's not that American automakers cannot make cars or make good cars they have just chosen not to in the past due to bad engineering decisions, poor cost cutting measures, poor customer service and support, and mostly due to corporate greed. But don't be fooled they can still make some kick butt cars when they put all that behind them and focus on the voice of the customer and on quality.

Now they just have to start selling it so I can get me one.

I'll be the downer on this one and say I didn't like the movie.

As the special-effects are taking their place as the undisputable ruler in action movies, argument, dialogs, acting, and actors become more and more... hmm... a secondary thing directors still have to put up with.

Seeing an action movie these days is pretty much about being blinded to an argument by the awesome special effects and losing all the bad acting behind the incredible sound effects.

The movie sure payed for my ticket. I just don't see why the same special effects couldn't be an extension to a good argument.

The comics and cartoons of the 80s sure didn't deserve much more on this case. But I'm remembering here mostly the Marvel based movies of the late years in which the comics had more depth in a page than all movies put together </possible_exaggeration>

Anyways, I'll hold to my wet towel if you don't mind.

I'll still see the movie possibly since one of my friends is moving away, and we'll probably see it before she leaves. I'm not looking forward to it since all the transformers just look like giant heaps of scrap metal to me. I'm not a meccha expert, and I haven't really seen the movie, but I can't tell what the transformers are made out of. There seems to be cleaner examples of transformers around than the ones in the movie. I expect a little better tbh.
