Who cares about story and character development in an action movie?
Well I sure do, for one. A straight action movie with nothing but action is kind of boring to watch for me. One example of an action movie with a good story is the Bourne Identity.

Anyways, I personally think that Transformers had very good acting and a very good storyline. Sure...it was simple. I won't deny that. It wasn't near as complicated of a plot as Pirates of the Caribbean 2 and 3. It was a very straightforward synopsis...but it was well developed, and the actors did it well. Therefore, I liked it.

Like it's ever going to be translated to Welsh. I'm surprised it's being translated to Irish, TBH.

I'm guessing that was probably a joke, since most Irish people wouldn't actually be able to understand a full movie "as gaeilge".

Anyway, for my $13 movie ticket, Transformers was ....ok.

The plot was about as complex as can be expected from Michael Bay, and the CGI was damn impressive. But maybe I have too many memories of the old cartoons/toys, but I hated the design of the new robots. The only one even vaguely recognisable was Prime. I didn't expect them to match the originals exactly, but they ended up looking all the same! Oh yeah, and the Bumblebee's old Camaro was way cooler than the new one. Modern american car design (with the notable exception of the Ford GT40) bores me to tears.

My main grip had to be the camera work, though. Realistic, shaky cam work in a battle is all well and good, but I'm here to see a movie about giant alien robots kicking the !@#$ out of each other. Camera realism is not on my list of priorities. I want to see them properly.

That said, they had the original voice of Prime, the token eye-candy chick was hot and (to borrow from the best review I've read in a long time)
"giant robots turn into cars! (More specifically and profitably, they turn into Pontiacs and Hummers and GMC pickup trucks.) And jets! And helicopters! And boom boxes! And cell phones! And then they fight each other! All sarcasm aside, that's pretty much awesome. On some very basic level, I don't think you can ........ up the kick of a movie about metamorphic robots—no, not even you, Mr. Bay."
    hell yeah

Yeah, the movie was good. Lots of actions and some funny moments. I couldn't stop laughing when the autobots played hide and seek. But IMHO the action was too fast to follow. I got a headache when I was going home after seeing the movie. But all in all, a good movie nevertheless.

What I missed the most is Bumblebee's VW Beetle. I liked it better than the Camaro. But luckily Megatron's transformation isn't a hand gun like the original.

    Haha, can't stop laughing

Anyways, this movie was awsome. Even it's not possible to fold a huge cube into small size that can be carry, but it looks really cool. I like more about the jokes and how all the robot messed up the whole yard of the boy. Cant believe some ppl just dont like it and kept saying that it was bad (which make my girlfriend dont wanna see it and i end up see it with all my guy friends). After all, awsome movie, awsome cgi, awsome graphic. Thumbs up!!!!

I just saw the movie (finally), last night. It was good ... but I was somewhat disappointed ... the storyline was terrible

One question (not going to ruin it for people who haven't seen it, so highlight): Didn't optimus prime die in the cartoon of AGES ago?

Well I saw an interview with Michael Bay, in which he said he didn't want to follow the original Transformers storyline exactly, because he didn't want to take the chance of ruining it. So he created a slightly different storyline.

No, The Brain, you would like to hear him with a stereotyped Irish accent!
