I believe winamp's got a plugin for it - same with MusicMatch.

MusicMatch uses Fraunhofer's codec (the best).
The plugin for winamp uses the lame encoder. It works well, I just tried it out today. Both have adjustable bitrates up to 320kb. I'd use at least 160 to maintain a high audio quality.

I use MusicMatch for all of my encoding at 256kb. Then Winamp for my mp3->wav conversions.

Thanks CG for those links . I downloaded WAV to MP3 Encoder. It encodes at up to 320kb/sec which is good enough for what I want to do (reduce the size of my demos to allow me to distribute them).

mp3 is a lossy compression scheme. if maintaining the integrity of the demo is very important to you, look into the .shn (shorten) format. it's lossless...if you want maximum compression, mp3 is the way to go...

Well these aren't for professional use, just a few covers I've done, so perfect sound quality isn't really a concern. But in the future I don't know, I may need better quality, so thanks for the tip .
