Exclamation Don't Pump Gas on May 15th

I got sent this e-mail. Please send it to your whole contact list (and anyone else), and tell you'r friends too.
    Please read.

    NO GAS...On May 15th 2007

Don't pump gas on MAY 15th!
In April 1997, there was a "gas out" conducted nationwide in protest of gas prices. Gasoline prices dropped 30 cents a gallon overnight.

On May 15th 2007, all internet users are to not go to a gas station in protest of high gas prices. Gas is now over $3.00 a gallon in most places.

There are 73,000,000+ American members currently on the internet network, and the average car takes about 30 to 50 dollars to fill up.

If all users did not go to the pump on the 15th, it would take $2,292,000,000.00 (that's almost 3 BILLION ) out of the oil companies pockets for just one day, so please do not go to the gas station on May 15th and lets try to put a dent in the Middle Eastern oil industry for at least one day.

If you agree (which I cant see why you wouldn't) resend this to all your contact list. With it saying, ''Don't pump gas on May 15th".
In fact, I request that a mod/admin makes this a sticky until May 16th.

But since I know some people will be stupid enough to fall for this I'm going to the pump on May 15th. Hopefully the line will be shorter.

OMG, Govt! 75,000,000.00!!!! If everyone in Cboard does this, it's still 2902.25 for each of us! I propose this thread by stickied indefinitely until we all get our portion of the excess gain from the oil companies.

And then they'd get twice as much the next day? because double the amount of people that need gas on a typical day, would need gas the day after.

You must be living in the US... over $3 a gallon... oh noes

You know what would put a dent in the oil prices ? Not driving for a day. Pumping gas the day before or after isn't even worth the paper this statistic would never be printed on.

You want to make a difference ? Don't try to punish those that are using the rules in the best way to make a profit. That's just capitalism. No morals there. Kick those in their respective reproduction organs, that make the rules those companies are playing by. Ratifying Kyoto would be a step in the right direction.

Let's see... Should we take a piece of chain letter spam and make it sticky? I think I know the answer.

    Oh you poor baby.
Here's a tip - buy something rated in miles per gallon, not gallons per mile.

At the current exchange rate, petrol (beats me how you lot managed to label a liquid as 'gas' anyway) here in the UK is presently just over $7.00 a (US) gallon.

I haven't seen so much whining since I visited a vineyard
If you dance barefoot on the broken glass of undefined behaviour, you've got to expect the occasional cut.
If at first you don't succeed, try writing your phone number on the exam paper.

I love seeing people complain. I saw a bumper sticker the other day which said "Boycott XXX until gas is back to $1.20 a gallon", with XXX being some big petroleum company I can't remember. As if people have a right to cheap gas...

We bought a diesel car last year and we've been running biodiesel in it. At the time, we were paying $2.89 for the biodiesel (local supplier) and people laughed at us, because diesel was $2.40 at that time. Now the CHEAPEST petroleum fuel, regular gasoline, is up to $3.35 in this area. And guess what, biodiesel is still $2.89 with no sign that it will go up anytime soon.

And on top of the fuel being cheap as dirt, the car drives 800 miles on a 12 gallon tank of gas, at least highway.

    Who's laughing now, huh?

I remember when I could fill my tank for $10.00. And I'm not even 30. Do you hear me complain? Not a bit, I actually hope the price continues to go up. Finally maybe people will catch a clue that this "energy" stuff is more valuable than we thought.

Now I remember why I put you on my ignore list.

I really don't understand the whining, either. I mean, it's (relatively) expensive, but how much is your gas spending really going up? Let's say you fill a 12 gallon tank once a week. First off, you drive too much, but that's another issue. Assume gas goes up .10 a gallon. That's $1.20 per week, or $62.50 per year. $62.50 - I bet your cable, energy, or phone bill went up by more than that from last year, and that doesn't raise the constant furor a gas increase does. Then gas prices will go back down a bit, then back up a little higher than before, then winter comes, and the price drops quite a bit.

If you want to save money on gas:

    Drive less
    Don't accelerate so much
Learn to drive a manual transmission, then
    Get a more efficient car
    Car pool
    Walk
    Ride a bike
Get over yourself - take the bus

I don't have time to write more, so here's the short version:

Gas prices are a simple result of supply and demand. Quit demanding so much.
There is a difference between tedious and difficult.
