What would you like to see?

We're currently planning changes to the site, but before we finalize anything, I want to hear the opinions of the members of the community.

How would you like to see the site change?

I'm afraid this post caused me to do a double take. It has the same title (minus '...') as another one (currently just below it). However the subject matter is just sliiiightly different.

Regarding changes: I rather like the site currently. As Dean pointed out however, the front page could use some work. I cant put my finger on it but as i have the Board Listings page bookmarked, and not the front page. that must be a hint about something. The Boards are basically the drawing point of the site so they should be more involved in the main page. Just a passing thought anyhow.

a little bit darker would be better.

    Lose the red text.

Use a more structured table setting.

Lose the large text in paragraphs. We are not blind.

Don't put all your links on the first page (have a cool entrance page and make it enticing w/ some functionality, but not so much, so that users continue on into the site where we can beat them and eat em for dinner... oh wait, nevermind that last part).

    Verify all links.

Lose some of the ads, but make a supporter's page. This page could show people's username that supported the site monitarily. I know I would pay to have my Avatar and name on the supporters page. (think about it... ) The money that is donated would increase in the list and the supporter giving the most would be on the top. (So I give ten dollars now and ten later, my total would show 20 dollars.) God I am clever. It should start from the present so that everyone is on level ground. I know a lot of people here would donate a little just to be in the list of donators.

Give us some templates to vote on...

The end. Hope I helped a little at least.

If I come across one... I will surely let you know. (I have in the past, but they are corrected it seems... that is why I said 'verify'... but you probably already do that)

What about the supporters page? Do you like the idea? I understand if you do not... but it would get you money, but it might be more work updating figures that it would be worth.

It's a good idea. I hadn't thought of a page for donors, although there is a link on the bottom of the forum that allows you to donate to the site. It probably wouldn't take much work to implement.

    Tutorials:

Are we allowed to post tutorials, or submit them to you? That would be cool.

    Source:

needs updates...its the same source that was on there when I came here 2 years ago....

    Books:

Theres quite a lot of new books out...maybe we could write some of the reviews for you

thats all that i can think of...

More user involvement would be a very good thing for the site.
One proposal I've been considering has been to open an articles section where users can submit articles and tutorials.

Both the books and source pages will be undergoing major renovations regardless of any modifications to the overall template.

I don't want to be too specific about my ideas because I'm more interested in getting new suggestions (and I'm not entirely sure what direction some of the projects I'm involved in are going).

Ditto that one - as little extraneous crap as possible.

Also, frames suck (yes, I realize my site used them....)

I don't know about other people but I seem to like sites that have dark colors....and some of the text being maybe blue or gree......even though green it's a little bit played out already. I mean the background being kind of dark.....
