Microsoft software on a windows machine...

    Hi people!

I'm having slight problems with some software, ironically everything that has the name Micro$oft on it.

I run Windows 98SE and have recently rebooted to attempt to solve this problem and yesterday did a defrag on the HDs.
Still however it persists. I cannot use any combination of MS software together.
IE, MSN messenger and WMP will not run and always crash after about 5 minutes of them having been opened. They're all the new versions and work smashing on their own (except WMP which goes down quite often I'm getting sick of using it). I can't use MSHP or Word for very long either... that freezes.
I'm getting a bit sick of using Ctrl+Alt+Del every two minutes and even that goes down after a while and I'm left with nothing working except Netscape, my Serif applications, Borland and Turbo Pascal and all the other applications not created by MS or at least have MS written on them.

Does anyone have any suggestions?? please!!!!!!! MS doesn't.

    seriously though:

possibly a corrupt file in the operating system
possibly a corrupt shared dll or an older version that is required.
try reinstalling all the software that is playing up
possibly a problem with winsock as all those apps use an internet connection, try reinstalling your winsock

    Thanks!

I've rebooted my computer recently so all the software is new.
I'll have another looks into it!

Thanks iain(and gamegod with Tux for the hint. *wink*!
