Just for fun, if no one remembers this story, it will be too soon. Remember that PSP has a misaligned box button? The PSP reeks of awesome! I liked the idea when I heard about it, but I started worrying because I'm bad enough at games as it is, I don't need extra handicaps built in the hardware.

That still won't stop me! I'll buy PSP one of these days.
The DS has ~3 good games, the PSP has like 3 bazoogilian good games. flop :P
Correct. A handheld is useless without good games. Nintendo stuff still gets sold because there are people like me still alive. We're old enough to remember how cool Nintendo was. Mario kept me entertained for hours when I was really sick in the hospital as a kid.

This was a while ago. Sony has taken care of it, so I'm not surprised.

My bad, cheez, you're right. I was thinking along strictly keyboard/mouse lines.

@Perspective (for PC fanboys): Precisely. It's a matter of taste, though. Some people have the desire to constantly upgrade their computers. That's part of the attraction of PCs. They can be as great or as mediocre as you want. As you said, that goes both ways. The consoles provide a consistent gaming environment for the life of the unit without needing upgrades, which can be pretty cool, especially as developers push the limits of what the console is capable of.

@ethic: Also my bad. I had no idea I was dealing world's foremost gamer/psychic. What a coincedence that the only two people on the planet who didn't have problems with their PS2 post on this board! Did you draw us here with your awesome paranormal power? How else could you know how much I use my PS2? Plenty of people have had problems with theirs. That sucks. I haven't. I know plenty of other people who haven't, either. I guess Wisconsin just got the only good batch of PS2s Sony put out. I happen to use my PS2 quite a bit, and have for years. Until very recently it was my primary DVD player and only video game system. (My PC was good enough for my schoolwork, my PS2 was great for gaming. I needed my money for more important ventures: rent, food, liquor - you understand ) Clearly many people still do care about graphics considering the market can stand a near-constant stream of better (and more expensive) graphics cards - and graphics are always a factor in gaming systems, no matter how innovative the games/systems themselves are. It's like cooking - you play with your eyes first.

The Wii looks intruiging. So does the PS3. We'll see which (if either) I buy.
There is a difference between tedious and difficult.

because only retarded fanboys argue about videogames, and since they are dumb it isn't like you are going to convince them of anything

There is a huge gap between console graphics and PC and always will be. PC developers must develop for future hardware which is always changing. And people do buy graphics cards a lot more than this thread lends credit to. It doesn't take a scientist to figure it out:

Console: Buy it as is, no upgrades until new console, games must cater to hardware on console.

PC: Buy it as is, able to patch, add-on, upgrade game, can upgrade hardware, mobo, CPU, and anything you want to. Games will certainly cater to all types of hardware configurations. Proof positive: Prior to purchasing my GeForce 7800 GS, I was running a GeForce 3 on all modern games with little trouble. Setting all options to high really didn't make that much of a difference on my 7800.
Graphics on the PC by the very nature of the beast will always be better than the console.
What I hate is that even though the hardware for the PC is in all ways superior (about 6 months after a console is release this is true), some developers choose to develop inferior games because they want to cater to console and PC w/o spending more dev time on the PC version.
IE: NFS Most Wanted flashes 'please don't turn off your system at this time' - a classic console warning which to me means they ported the game w/o changing a lot of the code base.
Consoles have brought nothing to the PC except set save points (which suck for PC's), arcade like realism, completely scripted campaigns/missions, etc, etc.
To me consoles have set the industry back a bit instead of moving forward with better technology and better programming. But cash cows often do that so it doesn't surprise me.

Also, you promote child labor, as it's widely documeted that Nintendos are built by 8 year olds in the same factories that make Air Jordans. This is also why your average Nintendo gamer smells like a sweat sock.

I am afraid that you will find that often the people who discuss politics history and music are for more intelligent then the 13 year old kid screaming "GAMECUBE MORE LEIK GAYCUBE"

but i would like to change my earlier statement from "arguing about video games is pointless" to "arguing about the console war is pointless" because the ........tiest console in the world can be awesome if it has good games, just like the most powerful and innovative console in the world can be ........ty if it has bad games

    edit- moooo

That's true, but the participants in the debate are just as likely to change their minds, especially on the Internet.

Well, maybe you have seen it happen but in all my years on the internet, I have never seen a single person change their mind in the face of what some random internet person has to say about the gaycube

Oh come on, beyond Ethic, there hasn't really been any of that in here. Keep in mind that you're on a programming forum. Many of the people here think of games from a programming stand point and are interested in how they're advancing. This is why saying something like "Oh... graphics don't mean anything in games" won't go well here. Graphics are a key part in the development in games and advancement in them is almost as crucial as advancing the game play itself.

EDIT: Oh and for a person not interested in arguing about video games, you certainly pulled "gaycube" out of left field.
