    programming obsolete status...

All things that we've needed to program have been programmed
my wise and mysterious uncle said this to me, as he's directing my future to electrical engineering... [which i agree with, since i want to design hardware, not software... i like it as a hobby but for cutting edge, i agree that hardware is where it's at...]

do you agree with this quote? i don't in that a century from now we'll be unimaginably advanced [and hopefully unimaginably standardized]... so we can't do much in the little tyme we have... [unlike back in the ole' one programmer DOS days...] i'd be interested to see what you have to say...

oh, and as such, look, a poll we haven't done before... [all polls _haven't_ been posted...]

I'm sure that not every program has already been programmed, I would tell you which ones don't exist (or I haven't found yet), but those are some of the ideas for Rapapaing Software

hmm... 5 to 0... i probably shouldn't have asked this question in a board of... programmers... but continue; i'd like to see what you all think... my uncle said that windows and m$ really have done it all... standardized, defacto... etc... i don't mean to say that having programmed everything means having technologically breached everything, by no means...

NO! It can't end this way! That would mean all my years of constant mocking in Elementary School because I programmed would have turned to null! <- and of course right there is the reason for the mockery. Teachnical terms in my daily language....

This is a good question. I think it depends on what type of programming your doing. I have friends that are so called 'programmers' in corporate America and all they do is sit in a cubicle...modifying, debugging etc. code that was written 10 years ago by someone that really liked the goto statement.....ALOT (FUN!!!). They have told me that they have never been asked and probably will never be asked to develop anything from scratch because all the companies buisness applications have been done for years. That would just suck.

    [and hopefully unimaginably standardized]
On Earth? Boy that would be nice.

well i guess that'd be kinda communist if it was... i like the flexiblity, but would rather have a technology oligopoly rather than monopoly...

What about all the new games and stuff? New operating systems? New drivers for custom hardware? There will always be new programs.
What will people say if they hear that I'm a Jesus freak?
What will people do if they find that it's true?
I don't really care if they label me a Jesus freak, there is no disguising the truth!

y'know, i suppose if there will always be new hardware, then there'll always be new software... good point, but i'm still more interested in revolutionizing hardware in my career, and software at home... [in my fikky art studio, aka my mynd...]...

I write software for R&D hardware.

My job is to write software for OS's, before it is finalised into DSP's. Mostly my stuff is to test or debug others work. This means I am asked to work out how to show off the latest hardware.

Plenty of new stuff to be written, just pays less in R&D than in other fields, but much more interesting to code.

wow! now that's just about the only software job i could see myself doing then i guess... you'd figure you'd get paid more for that kind of development! when i rule the world, i'm giving you a bonus...

I already rule the world, remember? I just don't have a crown because govt melted it down into a sceptar (and bashed me over the head repeatedly with it...) Oh, and if you can't understand what I'm talking about, then refer to the "King of the world" thread.

It is all done. Nothing more to do. Let's close up shop. Pack it all away.

needed for what? If you need mankind to survive, yes, everything needed is programmed. If you want an eesy way to hack everything, no.
