Which blogs are really interesting? (And dev. related)

As it is very hard to find blogs which are related to development (and game development in particular) I am asking for your favorites which you follow.

I do have some limitations to which ones I'd like to have:

* Qualitative!
* "Well written" in English.
* Updated at least six times a year.
* Preferably oriented towards game programming and game design. (But other programming is also of interest.)
* Preferably have an RSS / Atom feed so it's easier to follow.

Those I have now (with comments about why I like them):
* http://lostgarden.com is a lovely blog, oriented towards game design, graphics and the game industry. Insightful, long, well written article posts.
* http://www.spellcaster.de/coding/ Nice niched blog with shorter (normal for a blog really) informative "hands-on" posts. Oriented towards game design, graphics and coding (not many actual code examples though, but still things like library suggestions).
* http://blog.freelunchdesign.com/ Nice blog oriented towards game design mostly, but still with a slight sprinkle of coding. The posts are of medium length and well written(it is missing some illustrations though if you ask me).

So, have you got anything to share? ;D Please do not post your own blog if you haven't done some soul searching and honestly think that you fulfill the "limitations" listed above. (For example I would never post my own blog here, it's just not interesting enough.)

Anyways, nehe.gamedev.net (although not really a blog) is pretty interesting. If you are interested in game development you already know about this webpage though.

Because I'm exceptionally kind, heres all the RSS feeds I read. Most of the programming ones are .NET related, but theres a lot that are just generic programming or the industry in general (like Joel on Software). I also keep an eye on places like The Code Project and lots of other community websites, plus a couple of accounting and business feeds.

It's in OPML format. Chances are your RSS reader (I use RSS Bandit) should have an option to just Import directly from the OPML file, otherwise you can open it in Notepad and have a read yourself.

Oops, due to the boards moronic file extension blocker system, it's at attatched .txt file. You might need to rename it to "OPML" to import it.

Well you can but I won't. I'm not in need of tutorials, if it was the case than my question would have been about good tutorials.

What Thantos is saying and I agree is that blogs are about as uninteresting as uninteresting gets. I think when they teach the word uninteresting in grade school they should use bloggers as an example. The thing I can't disagree with you on is saying "At least 6 times a year" cause 6 times a year sounds like a good number. I would probably say "At most 6 times a year though" because the equation for how interesting a blog is would be something like this:

Model for Readability of a job/profession related blog:

Readability = ((Age + Level of English Comprehension) * (Their employment level - a mail room clerk's employment level)) / Number of times they care to update

As you can see, the more they update, the more the blog sucks... because the amount they update is directly proportionally to what they would consider interesting news and is inversely proportional to how often they get out of the house. It's all mathematical, you see.

So what Thantos was saying is... you'll get more interesting conversation out a message board. At least that's people communicating with other people rather than some guy posting his lameness on a website pretending he get a million viewers.

IMO blogs are not a good medium for dissemination of useful programming related topics. Blogs are useful for things that are in changing. News of whats happening in the world, sharing your thoughts on a daily basis, that kind of crap. Programming really doesn't change that quickly. Even as technology changes the core of programming pretty much stays the same. Heck it took 10 years to update the C standard. C++ was around for close to 20 years before it really became popular. In game development the biggest advancements have simply been in graphics rendering and manipulation. But even that hasn't changed all that quickly.

I used to read online diaries. Those that I visited daily were fun, very active and had a very personal touch. I think blogging is a phenomenon created by people who wanted to be as cool and pseudo-famous as good online diary writers, but didn't bring the dedication to work on it. Most blog sites look like people dump their brain farts there. Some are exceptional, but those people would have been exceptional if they wrote a book I guess. Blogging has become a public sport and 99% of people suck doing it. Nothing wrong with it, I don't watch men's mudwrestling on TV and I don't read blogs.
