Ahh, but do they show you the REAL Dragonball, or a highly cut n' censored version?

If they showed the *real* dragonball in the USA, people would probably call it pornographic -- there are sexual references every thirty seconds in some eps. It's not really porn, but it *is* rather perverted.

As an example, in the original Dragonball series, Goku is unable to tell if someone is a man or woman by looking at them, so he grabs people's crotches to find out.

Although, you DO live in the Netherlands, maybe folks over there aren't as violently opposed to sex as people are here (in many anime here, all romantic references are censored, even if they would be completely normal or innocent).

Um, Frippity? COLOR can have a "u" and can have NO "u"...
    Lookin a dictionary... American spelling =no "u" and UK=have u...
Please extend your knowledge before opening your mouth and spitting out wrong information.

Anyway, I like Japanese anime way more, with one exception, Garfield rocks!!!

    Sakura rocks too!

Yep, I too have to go with Japan, but also with more of the movies than series. You have to give some of the American companies credit for what they are doing with the computer aided animation though. It's just always tooooo geared toward kids. Being a kid at heart, I still enjoy them anyway.
My christmas present to the Anime people

USA Sucks, and so doe cartoons.
oh come on, now was that really necessary? Definately not very
I-n-t-e-l-l-i-g-e-n-t. Yep no "U" in that word

They don't show it, I just buy the books. I don't think its cencored, the boy/girl thing is there. and I like garfield too, but i concider (how do you spell that) that a comic, not a cartoon

I apologise most profusely for him thought he deserves all he gets. He is merely trying to put the point forward that Americans have mutilated the English language until it is nearly unrecognisable as the same tongue.
    His words not mine!
...and he leaves me to clear up his mess. Cheers Frip!

Languages evolve, and local/regional dialects are common in all languages. It's not ruining language, just altering it.

Modern English is so different from Old English that it's practically a different language altogether. There's a distinct similarity, but someone knowing Modern English couldn't read Old English. Modern English is enough like Middle English that it's often possible to read Middle English directly -- but many of the words are changed, to varying degrees, so it can be tricky to figure out just what it means. And some words have simply been lost altogether, or two distinct words have been replaced with one word, or the word was kept but both spelling and meaning changed, so it can be tricky to understand Middle English.

    An example:
Middle English (the opening to Sir Gawain and the Green Knight):

SIŽEN že sege and že assaut watz sesed at Troye,
Že bor3 brittened and brent to bronde3 and askez,
Že tulk žat že trammes of tresoun žer wro3t
Watz tried for his tricherie, že trewest on erthe:
Hit watz Ennias že athel, and his highe kynde,
Žat sižen depreced prouinces, and patrounes bicome
Welnee of al že wele in že west iles.

    Modern Translation:

SINCE the siege and the assault was ceased at Troy,
the city burnt to brands and ashes,
the knight that treason there wrought
Was tried for his treachery, [and was found] the truest on earth:
It was Ennias the noble, and his high kind,
That since defeated great nations, and became rulers
Of wellnigh all the world in the west Isles

And hey, if you brits get to change the language that much, what's an occasional letter here and there? =]

I do think anime is better, but I enjoy domestic animation as well. My favorite anime are:
Gundam Wing(for strange reasons that no one else seems to agree with)
Rurouni Kenshin(the OAV, not the TV series)
    Princess Mononoke
    Iria

I put GITS and Evangelion on my christmas list, so hopefully I'll be able to add those to my list.(I don't get to watch much anime for various reasons)

    My favorite domestic animation is:
Samurai Jack (okay, that's almost cheating)
    Powerpuff Girls
    Dexter's Laboratory
    X-men: Evolution
    All generalizations are false

if a contradiction was contradicted would that contradition contradict the origional crontradiction?

I like the fact that Anime is more adult oriented than child oriented...All cartoons in America besides the simpsons are child oriented these days.
What will people say if they hear that I'm a Jesus freak?
What will people do if they find that it's true?
I don't really care if they label me a Jesus freak, there is no disguising the truth!

all the old US cartoons were good, like:

    Transformers
    Conan the Barbarian
    Carebears
    GummyBears
    Gumby
    The Smurfs
    Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles
    Ghost Busters

We had all the good cartoons back then...now all the new ones suck...although Blue's Clues is pretty good...

The newer (USA) cartoons's graphic is very terrible. Just look at one of the newer US cartoons, they are just circles and they don't even look right. Sometimes they even tends to "hover" (their walking path don't match the distance they walked, or slide. Example - Pokemon, Digimon).

Their speech is just as terrible. Their jokes are not even funny but some kids laugh to the floor. Sometimes they don't make sense.

Japanese Cartoon had slipped by a large scale over the years. Before computers, both the US and Japanese cartoons are great (Warner Bros., Disney and Doraemon), but after the involvement of computers, they had became worse. Just look at Digimon (mock it to the worst if you like), they fly at a different angle than they face. Pokemon are just as bad. They are walking but no distance is achieved.

As for storyline, constantly, the first season is very well planned. But, if they started a new set of episode, their storyline are just so mixed that you can't even tell what is going on. Nowadays the cartoon tends to "stretch" the storyline by plotting useless episodes and subplots. Digimon has tons of these. Pokemon is less severe but still has a lot of junk. They are placeholders, storytellers should never use them.

    Opinion will be accepted.
