Thumbs down COMPANY Microsoft = IDBAD; // Why?

Why does most everyone on this board think Microsoft is evil? Why are they so bad? And if they are, why isn't Google the same? Please don't flame me for this!!! I have seen the reacton dxoo got when he wanted to know about working there.

We like Linux, we like Linux . . . .

Ever had a virus? Ever had 12000?

Because Microsoft is a perfect example of bad coding habits.
They do minimal error checking and thier products, when released, are just entering a beta test period.
they remove the products when they are finally close to a release quality.
They put no effort into security concerns. ( the huge number of exploits still being found in ie6 is a perfect example )

Beware! This post is from a Krazy Kanuck!

Windows as over 1200 viruses devloped every day. .
Linux has ~12 per year. .
Mac has ~.1 per year .

So, would you rather have Windows, Linux, or Mac?

I hate Mac users (except for my big sister), therefore if I were to use a Mac, I would hate myself. The only thing I would do with a Mac is immediately install Yellow Dog on it. But I would not have a Mac unless someone gave it to me, as they are way overpriced hardware.

As to the OP's question, Their ethics are questionable. They take pains to make sure that software that is made by a competitor does not load or run as fast as the equivalent Microsoft version. Corel software caught them doing that a couple of times apparently.

You guys DO realize that so many people target windows because it is the most popular, correct?

Don't try to argue that Microsoft is bad because their product is the most popular, it doesn't work too well.

kawk, do the numbers you gave also reflect the amount of users of these OSs? (Percentage wise of course.)

Windows is a slutty OS and that's why I love it. (I'm not kidding.)

Well, you have to blame somebody for the ills of the world. It's easier to complain than to fix something.
    Just because I don't care doesn't mean I don't understand.

I would say most people(not all) that hate it are simply band wagon jumpers. They hop on the band wagon because they think it is cool to hate Microsoft.

    Touche'!

    Microsoft has their moments.

Visual Studio.NET is an amazing work of art in my opinion, and they showed a rarely-seen side of themselves with Rotor, which was a project to port .NET to BSD systems (though I haven't heard about it in a while). I think Windows XP is a really great platform, as long as you take precautions to defend yourself against viruses.

On the other hand, many of their other recent OSs have been distastrous, and they have certainly displayed some very questionable ethics in the past, to say the least.

I've started to have pretty neutral preconceptions about Microsoft products now. I don't listen much to either side of the argument until I've tried it for myself.

As for Google, as I've pointed out before, Google's in a whole different industry to begin with. Advertizing. Microsoft's just out to sell software. Partly because of that, and maybe also because of the way they're run, Google has always produced genuinely quality products - especially popular with the majority of software developers who appreciate good program design.

    edit: And it's free too!

Exactly. I bet 90%+ of these folks "dissing" Microsoft probably use more than 3 of their products.

I've used WinXP for ~3 years, never had a virus or a "HUGE OMGZ LOLZ" crash. Sure, XP burps, but so does my Fedora Core 4 machine. Get the hell over it, and use the damn computer.

Yay for recursive arguments. Actually, no not really. Kinda lame. But seriously.

    Windows 95? 98? Me? 2000? XP? 2003?

People dumb enough to use old OSs with known problems (AKA, they ain't gonna get fixed b/c the OS isn't supported anyways) and no virus/spyware protection shouldn't be allowed to use computers anyways. Zip, nada.

So you'll be sending me the money to upgrade my OS when? I don't have a job, can't get a job because I can't drive, and my parents believe that computers should never be upgraded in any way. Get the hell over yourself.
