I will be starting college in the fall and in winter I will want to train on my bike, since I race. Would you find it acceptable to ride on the trainer in the dorm room? Perhaps if I asked my room mate if it was alright?
Aside from the administration or whoever not wanting you to, does it sound alright?

your school. im sure the rules on that would be different at alot of schools.
your best bet is to ask your school adminstration.
Generally rooms in the dorms aren't going to be big enough for a stationary bike (assuming that's what you are referring to). You'd be better off finding the on-campus gym, which is usually free for students, and using a bike there.

As long as you stashed it away well, I've not seen many rooms (at least at my school) that'd preclude a trainer. I've got a very small single, and I keep my road bike on a rack on the wall when I'm not using it, and although it'd be tight, a trainer would fit.
I generally try to cross-train during the colder parts of the year (mainly late-Dec, and Jan, here), and just make sure to bundle up for the other cold times.
I can't imagine the administration caring. Your room-mate might be a different story, though.
You might also see if there is an indoor track somewhere nearby for bicyclists (I've heard of their existence, but I have yet to see one).

Aside from your roommate, be mindful of the people who live below you or next to you, depending on how the sound travels in your dorm. I imagine a stationary bicycle would cause the most problems for the people below you because of the vibrations.

every college/uni has to have a gym of some sort. go there. dorm rooms are small and get sweaty pretty quick.

What school is this from? Pretty nice. I go to RIT (rochester institute of technology) and we just got a new gym/training facility. It's a really big one like your picture. It's nice when you see all those tutition dollars put to good use.Originally Posted by B0bDole
