    Nudity

No not pornography.... I know you sick little puppies

But nudity. How does your society, region, and/or family view nudity.

For example: My wife is from Finland (as I have stated countless times). I have come to find that (in Finland) neighbors/friends/family/strangers etc commonly go to the sauna together butt naked.

It isn't even a question. When I was there, her brother and friends (some of them girls) were just getting naked and going into the sauna. Free and without a care in the world.

On the opposite side in my American culture, I have seen my mom and sister naked only once and my dad a couple of times. But it is shunned to some degree in my family (I do not think anyone really cares... but we avoid it to the best of our ability). I have seen my wife's parents mostly naked three times already, but it is no big deal because they don't care.

What are your thoughts on this issue? If you are from countries outside the US (the majority of you) describe how you see it to be in your country.

Yeah, mostly Europeans are pretty okay with nudity.

Well, I'm from California. Here, nudity is kind of looked down upon, but almost naked is totally okay...LoL
What will people say if they hear that I'm a Jesus freak?
What will people do if they find that it's true?
I don't really care if they label me a Jesus freak, there is no disguising the truth!

But, it also limited the rights of the others who don't want any maked person running around the street. So I am against it.

In Hungary there are many nudist camps, I don't use to visit these places, though. I just couldn't feel confortable.

Nudity, in my opinion, must not be too public, but between friends and family members is nothing special.

On nice, warm and peaceful summer afternoons, when I'm alone or with my girlfriend, use to swim totally naked in the river.

It's a *totally* different feeling. It's a matter of culture and point of view.

Scandinavian people are really liberal in this matter. Eastern cultures as well. And they've got no such high sexual crime rates as western cultures.

The real problem is our poisoned world, where the human body is slowly degraded to a sexual tool...

    P.s.
I've read that in some U.S. states bathing together with your daughter is a crime! Is that true?

    Isn't that the truth...

    >>>The real problem is our poisoned world, where the human body is slowly degraded to a sexual tool...

That certainly could be, but I do not think that it is like that for many. It is sort of like there are different worlds within this world. Sort of like the whole "you run with the dogs, you act like a dog" cliche'.

Some people are barely touched by the way of pornography, prostitution, drugs, etc.

They may know it exists, but it is a far off place to them.

Others live right in it and feel that there really is no innocence in the world.

They may know it exists, but for them... it is a far off place.

Interesting perceptions from you guys... anyone have anything else to add before this post dissapears into the eternal post count.?

I don't know if it's criminal per se, but it would probably be highly looked down upon if a man were to bathe with his daughter unless she was 4 or younger.

Not ALL americans are afraid of nudity. Personally, I don't much care one way or the other. I wear clothes because a) it's often damn cold, and b) not wearing clothes is rarely an option. I'm not uncomfortable being naked or being around naked people.

I think that once you get into your mid-twenties it really doesn't bother you too much for people to see you naked unless you have some wretched physical deformity or something, although, if the people who see you are your friends, it shouldn't pose any problem.

In the US people aren't afraid to go into saunas and be naked... it's what they are for... but mostly the sexes are segregated when they go into a sauna (for obvious reasons). It's a shame that americans for the most part are sick and twisted individuals who are very sexually driven. I wish more people would think between their ears instead of between their legs.

well, nudity is not common in here at all, not even in saunas, but nobody discusses about it. Of course it's not like you're not allowed to walk in the street with provocative (even kinky) clothes at all (that's for women, of course)! Well, Bogotá is a cold city and you wouldn't want to do it anyway, but noone would think bad about you if you did.

There are no nudity beaches or places in Colombia (well, I'm sure there must be, but it's not a common practice). I really don't know why... I think it's just a custom, I don't think that many people disagree with nudity, but it's some sort of a "cultural custom".

But as of myself, I don't disagree with nudity (I don't practice it in public of course ), and I wouldn't mind if I moved to a scandinavian country (you say that they don't mind it at all) and I had to change my customs...

yeah...God bless the beach, huh? Those western beaches any different than my lovely SE ones?

Hey,a dn has anyone else noticed how WARM this winter is? it's like 75~80 out!

I just like the feeling of having clothes on better. I could care less if my friends saw me naked or mostly naked, but just random people...no.

Hmmm...my mind just rushed back to when I was in Monte Carlo (I think, could've been spain I guess...or italy. I forget which one, I visited all of em) and I walked right past a nude beach or two.

heh.. i have no problems with the USA.. i live in it.. it's just that places in this country are either completely sensitized or completely desensitized to stuff.. going to different states chan be like going to a different country.. ther's some major culture shock sometimes.
