Mmm, google?
Or more specifically, recruitment sites.
Just look at the "going rate" for various job descriptions
If you dance barefoot on the broken glass of undefined behaviour, you've got to expect the occasional cut.
If at first you don't succeed, try writing your phone number on the exam paper.
You will also need to specify a geographical area. Rates vary from place to place and from country to country. The taxation and cost of living feature heavily.
Here, (North Sjælland island, Denmark), the going rate for a "typical" software engineer is about 50,000 DKK a month or in Euro €6,709.63. More specialist engineers can expect a little more, recent grads with no experience, less.

When do I start? Are you serious? That's a sizable chunk more than what I make, and that's even before the Euro to USD conversion.Originally Posted by adrianxw

Perfectly. I also said this though...

The basic rate of income tax here starts at 43%. Professionals can expect to pay a lot more then that. Denmark has some of the highest taxation in the world. Normally, either income or spending is taxed. We have very high income tax AND the highest sales taxes/VAT in the EU, 25% on everything.
And yes, things really are ridiculously expensive here. Not always because they are expensive per-se, indeed, it is frequently quoted that Denmark has the cheapest cars in the EU, but that does not include tax. The manufacturers have to sell them cheap to offset the 225% car sales tax, plus registration tax, plus twice a year "weight tax" plus petrol tax plus environmental tax and some of the highest road tolls/km in the world.
No opportunity is missed to screw money out of us.

Holy crap. Nevermind... I'll stick with what I've got. Why hasn't there been some kind of government overthrow or something? I'd think the absurdity would drive your people to it.

wow, thats a lot of dough down the drain... do they pave your streets with gold, and fill the fountains with beer or something?
You forgot the naked women. Are their naked women roaming the streets asking to give you pleasure... for free?
Sweden also have quite high taxes. That is because the governemnt fund healthcare and things like that. But I must admit that the system is very slow and inefficient, and alot of money gets wasted on nothing because of this.
