    Concerning BIB's, (Bag In Box)-

Does anyone know if those "Bag In Box" wine things can lie on their sides once they have been opened? I realise you can't really use them in that state, but I only recently started to use them and have no real experience with them.

I hhave never bought a white wine because there is not enough room in the fridge for it to stand, thus I would need to lie it down, then take it out to use it.

What concerned me was the tap mechanism. Would a half full/empty BIB on it's side leak air into the bag thus ruining the whole thing?

If the tap keeps the wine from pouring out when the box is standing, I don't think air will leak into the bag when the box is lying down.

Nah, they're pretty airtight Adrian. In fact, when you've finished with them you can make great footballs out of them by blowing them up .

    B0bDole's answer is good too...

edit>> of course, you do know that bottled wine just tastes better...

There is a difference between wine in cardboard boxes and the current BIB's. You can find some quite decent wine in BIB's now. Today, I bought a Hardys "Stamp" which I have a glass of in front of me now - no different from a good bottle, and better then a bottle with a dodgy cork.

Add to that the standard BIB's here contain 3L, i.e. 4 bottles. Each BIB is a small square box with a handle. I can easily carry 4 of these. I am not so sure how easy it would be to carry 16 bottles.

I could have sworn you told us you had never been drunk or only had once or something.

edit:I guess this is what I was thinking about. My bad.
Well since my birthday is in July I'll do my part to help American Beer Month. I'm not a big drinker (I'd be streching to get 14 drinks a year). I don't see anything wrong with moderatated drinking. Hell I'm at the point where I can not consume more then two drinks in a setting. I can try to go for a third but I never finish it.

Yeah not a huge drinker anymore but I have been drunk before. Hell the first time I got drunk was on purpose so I'd know what it was like. Though I made sure I did it in a fairly safe enviroment.

I think that's pretty good policy for everyone. That's how I did it, too.
