I later went to college and got my BSEE and programming was not even an afterthought (I had some derogatory term I used to describe those with the computer option). A friend and co-worker introduced me to the embedded side and I discovered it was much easier to change a couple lines of code than to burn my fingers with a soldering iron.

I am currently reading Unix Network Programming Vol. 1 off and on, and I think I have a basic grasp on the subject. Well, seeing as I use both, my favorite book would have to be The C++ Programming Language (Special Edition) by Bjarne Stroustrup, and my favorite site happens to be here (cprogramming.com).

C (The starting point for C++), PHP, Perl, Shell scripting, and ADA (we use it in our Data structures class at UNI (thats the Universities acronym, not short for University, as the teacher used to work for Rockwell Colins writing software for aircraft.)

Yes. Reading code (currently for online stock trading) for six hours a day (for two weeks so far) can tend to grate / make your eyes bleed…….(4 million lines of asp, VB, C++ and SQL)
