Opera users with Gmail accounts look here

Well it appears that google in their "wisdom" has deemed opera to be uncomptible and thus is forcing an ugly static html page on us.

    Luckily their is a workaround:
    https://gmail.google.com/gmail?nocheckbrowser
    or
    http://gmail.google.com/gmail?nocheckbrowser

haha... both links bring me right into my account - I guess it's not a static as you think

note: I don't have opera on my system, so I can't see the page you're talking about

That's odd. I've been using Opera with Gmail for ages, and it works fine here??

    >>edit - or is this a recent (last couple of days) thing?

That's why you don't see the static html page...
    from webopedia:
Static (adj.) Generally refers to elements of the Internet or computer programming that are fixed and not capable of action or change. The opposite of static is dynamic.
if I see one thing and he sees another by following the same link, it's not really static... unless it's a redirect, in which case he linked the wrong 'static' page. although I guess you could argue that the page could be hardcoded somwhere, which would make it static...

    oh yeah, and:

sigh, major_small using opera go to http://gmail.google.com/gmail and you'll see what I'm talking about.

The links I posted tell it to not do the browser check.

Why are you commenting on a thread specifically targetted to opera users when you don't have opera? Jeez

RobR: Its a recent as of last night thing. Like 11pm its fine, 12am its all screwy.

RoD that was only when you attempted to log in. After that it gave you the normal page.
Now it no longer prompts you at log in but it'll give you a completly different looking and acting page if you use opera.
