You know, young man, you once admonished someone never
to represent the United States as "America" because Mexico
and Canada were part of America but not part of the United States.
In that respect I would admonish you not to refer to some
people's frustrations with cprogramming as flashdaddee's
engaging in a war with this fine board. FD is not at war with
anybodyand never has been in the one short month of its existence. The fact that some of flashdaddee's members consider
themselves expatriates from here is a personal matter and not
an organized effort by anyone to steal away cprogramming's
members or to foment any disharmony between our two groups.
People who go to flashdaddee's go there because there are
resources there they can use as well as those found here, and most of the members at flashdaddee's frequent both sites for this
reason. We like to think of our relationship as something akin to
two cousins who love each other, not two competitors who are
at war. The very notion is laughable. Flashdaddee be the Taliban;
cprogramming be the United States.
And just to end things let's clarify the reason why people living
in the United States do rightfully call themselves Americans.
You see, the official name of this land is The United States of America, and people here, being an informal bunch, like to shorten the name to America for convenience sake and not because we covet the lands of Mexico and Canada as our own.
So, there is nothing wrong with a United States citizen calling himself an American, because that is, in fact, what he is.
