Oh... and another thing. Where do you vegans get your protein? There is none in your precious veggies. You probably get them from some vitamin or something else (although Quzah claims he does not). You need protein for a good diet. And where is a good natural source of protein? MEAT.

Ok, I'm done ranting now. [puts on flame suit]

Go here for an apparent answer to this quiestion. They have a couple charts showing a sample breakfast/lunch/dinner for typical males/females and the total protein content along with recommended daily protein intake.

I've been a vegetarian (almost vegan) for a while now and have to say that the protein ideology is way overblown. Plants have protein in them as well as some of the more higher sources like beans, Silk (soymilk), nuts and just about most of the things I've seen.

If you really look at what's in meat, I'd say that the only nutritious thing it really does have might only be protein and of course some B12 which I get from Soymilk and trace amounts from fresh vegetables. I'm sure you can get protein from tofu but for some reason I lack the taste for it. Eggs are another big story with way more cholesterol than just about anything. 1 egg has about twice the cholesterol than a steak larger than 8 oz! That's just crazy. Dairy is really the same except it has more growth hormones, antibiotics, and pus (yes pus) as seen here.

Yeah I really didn't like learning about how the animals are factory raised just for food but I mostly did it for the health reasons. I want to stick around longer than some of my relatives have.

On the lighter side, if you haven't seen this, I thought it was funny.

Fabulous. Spread overblown lies about a very good drinking product. At least in PA and MD, delivery companies will not even pick up milk that is over 100 million/per liter somatic cell count. If it goes over that, you have to dump the tank. There is also a very strict set of guidelines that have to be followed and all farms are periodically checked by health advisors. Not any schmuck can produce milk anymore.

Besides, try posting something from a site that is not related to PETA. You could not get a more biased source of info.

If the guidelines are under 100 million/per liter though, why would you want to drink any somatic cells anyways? It sickens me personally.

I heard the PETA founder on the radio this morning (on MAncow, if anyone else listens), anyways, she is a total wack bag - she would get so much more support if their tactics were not so freagin out there.

You obviously don't know anything about it then. Hell, my family gets milk straight out of the tank (before being sent off for homogenization, etc). I used to drink the stuff and it actually tasted better. There is nothing wrong with it and you'd be surprised to find what is in the rest of the food you eat. Get out of your bubble.

You mean like the amounts of insects we get in our daily food intake? Technically no one is truely vegetarian, even in eating wheat/other products you still get insects in everything you eat .

Don't waste your time on the troll. They're intentionally ignorant. If they really cared, they'd look it up. They're just like the rest of the sheep in the world, waiting to be led around and told what's right for them, with their head up their ass, afraid to look around for themselves. I'm done with this thread.

Honestly, what do you think you know about milk that someone who's been around the production of it their whole lives does?

I went through a long stretch a little while back where I wasn't eating meat. Then one day my ex came back to my apartment with some fried chicken. To everyones surprise I said "Give me a piece of that. I feel like I've been observing lent for five years.".
Since then I eat everything, animal, vegetatable, or mineral, as long as it's prepared well.

Not to be nitpicky, but that is a diet highly lacking in vitamin B12 which is quite needed to avoid the effects of pernicious anemia (like all things, this does not apply to everyone). B12 is most prevalent in animal products so it would seem like a good thing for us to be eating. I am not saying eat tons of meat a day and certainly do not go on the atkins diet, but it seems like meat is very useful and sometimes can be needed. Eh, I guess it doesn't matter that much but the way I see it, we are omnivores, more suited to eat vegetables and fruits and such, but still quite capable of eating meat as well. It is how nature intended it, otherwise why even bother being able to eat meat?

In looking at herbivores they subsist on plants and fruits, which works well for them and they are designed to eat it (i.e. cows with their four stomachs and all which are good at breaking down the tough weeds and grasses they eat). Cows were never meant to eat other animals and since the meat industry started feeding them such things to make them bigger I think they started to introduce BSE and such into the system. Just like the tribes that ate other people's brains started to get kuru, because I don't think cannabalism was ever intended to be a survival means. But I digress, I am no expert so just going on what I observe.

Go educate yourself instead of talking like an idiot. All you have to do is eat whole foods that you prepare yourself. Oh, I'm sure you'll have some brilliant reply. Your kind always seem to think they're so witty. The fact is, I don't give a **** about any of you, and as I tried to say before, I'm done with this thread. Untill I suppose you all start giving me more negative reputation for my opinion. In which case, I'll red dot the lot of you into oblivion.
