wow Kleid-0, you really don't know when to call it quits, do you? Haven't you got plenty already, or are you simply a masochist?

Right now the red squares don't matter, as your reputation, as seen through the eyes of other members, is suffering much more.

Having asked many questions myself I have problems understanding where some of the examples people give me fit into the code. I've been told to go read the FAQ and I said "It's in C, I don't know it." and in return I got "Don't use that as an excuse you should learn C." I agree with the majority you if you think they are willing to learn go ahead and post the source code. As for me I'm a freshmen in high school and I can't take programming classes, so there wouldn't be any point in copying and pasting. If I keep up on all my credits my computer teacher said that I should be able to go out to the college and take a programming class there, or do an independent study online.
    My computer is awesome.

Things like Java certification are certainly an option for you.

Well, that was a foolish answer you got from someone. If you are working at learning one language, don't sidetrack to learn another before continuing. However, C and C++ are identical in a lot of the basics. But yeah, it was a foolish response you got.

For you. Because it's a good credential, it's wayy less expensive than formal education, and you can teach yourself. And I didn't say Java Certification was a good idea for you. I said, "things like Java Certification". There are similar programs for many languages out there.

Hmm, is there anything similar for C++? I'm not too shabby with it, but I doubt any employer would take just my word for it if I put it on a resume (or they'd assume the least). It would definitely be nice to have a certificate of some sort to prove that I'm not just another skript kiddie.

Googling turns up about a million results for "C++ certification", and they all offer something like a quiz of 40 easy-ish multiple-choice questions or so, and they'll mail you a certificate if you pay them and pass the quiz. Would such a thing be taken seriously by any employer, or is there anything better you can do (other than a formal college/university course)?

I remember Sake saying that. I think it was added sort of as a half-baked afterthought though, it was the other 90+% of the post that was really meant to be important.

It wasn't a foolish answer, because it wasn't said. The thread in question is here. This is what was actually said:

C is mostly just a subset of C++. Anyway, the essential logic and syntax of the thing is the same:

They said this may seem overwhelming at first but DAMN. I think I'll try to find a book or someone who can teach me in person.

    Poor person.

And I haven't heard of any specific C++ certification company. I said Java because that seems to be the best organized example. Certainly any certification is better than none, but try and go for the biggest name you can find.

Okay... I stand corrected. If it had been said, it would've been foolish. All Hunter2 said was essentially what I said about them.

    Cheers

You can get a copy of the bible (the K&R) on amazon for $42. Search for "C Programming Langauge"
