Unhappy Windows Update problems, please help

I just got the latest windows updates and now my browser will not connect to any webpages. I've tried several sites, yahoo, microsoft, google, etc. However my AOL browser still works. But I dont like to use the aol browser, how can I get my browser IE 5 to work correctly again? Please help, I'm desperate. Thanks.

i have the same problem occasionally, are you running a firewall?
My browser will not connect to any website unless my firewall is active. I dont know whether this is a security feature or a bug.

I would say a bug or a secrwed up setting somewhere...

it is kinda handy though - it forces me to switch my firewall on which is for my protection really. I dont see how the windows update could do that though, i had no troubles with it. Which parts did you d/l?

Ive got Win2K, and whenever I download a service pack, there is an add/remove entry in the control panel. Though I have never tried it, you may be able to restore your old setup by uninstalling the update.

I must say though that I am not speaking from experience, so I cant say I am 100% sure here.
