I'm curious on what you people think. What came first, the chiken or the egg? I hope this might even become a little philosophical. I have read that there is a lot of logical stuff behind this question, and it looks interesting.

What will people say if they hear that I'm a Jesus freak?
What will people do if they find that it's true?
I don't really care if they label me a Jesus freak, there is no disguising the truth!

I'd never thought that this question would reach this board, I'm very ashamed of myself
Oh, and the first thing was the living cell (obviously, atoms came before that), not the chicken nor the egg
Oskilian
THis is kinda dumb... No offense, but this discussion can go on forever, and there really is no point, because no one can prove themselves... AND WHO CARES WHAT CAME FIRST... *sigh* This will only lead to an argument... Oh well... carry on...
But did the cell evolve into the chicken or the egg? Which one first?

that's not a philosophical question, it's a question for people who have never studied Biology (specially evolution)...
no offense, but have you studied Evolution, Natural Selection and Mutation?
Oskilian
Umm...Not really. I go to a Christian school. Oh well, just close this thread.

Hey... I am there with you man. (You all whine and complain when people are critical of you... and now look at ya ! Cut the dude some slack. Funny!)
I think that they came at the same time tho. I think that beyond the big bang, evolutionism, and creationism there is an existing idea that we haven't quite touched upon.
Image a world today not existing the day before. Image it starting in the middle of your life at some precise moment in time where motion began. All things come to be... even a history of where we have been and what we ate the day before for lunch.
Just spontaneously beginning. Now take that point back hundreds of years, and poof everything begins in a moment....
or was it a hundred years? Perhaps it started at the beginning of this sentence. You remember everything before it, because you came in with all of the necessary history to put you in this moment.
Never lose touch that life is a long string of 'nows'... one now after another makes time. That which binds it is where the magic, or god, or the cohesion lay.
When time ends for you... your now brings you to faith and what you believe for a final dance until you are swept into the afterlife or nothingness (depends on your faith I suppose).
Is that strange enough for you? I can do another side for you too. I am not partial to ideas... they change often in our lives.

I went to a catholic school, but they still thaught evolution and philosophy (the principal (a priest, of course) taught lots of thing which went against any religion, but education is education).Originally posted by gnu-ehacks

The catholic thing is mainly to give you ethics, not to brainwash you.
why close this thread? I said "No offense"

Hmm...Let me see if I am still following you. You mean to say that life could have just begun this second, and that my memories of life before were just implanted in my mind, but they never happened to me, right?
Interesting philosophy, do you believe it though, or is it just an interesting idea?

good ?uestion++... time (about_its)... not for science yes, who thought up with this anyway?

Wait...I'm lost...Could you translate? The part I don't understand is:
time (about_its)... not for science yes
BTW, I thought this up on the board, some philosopher came up with this, presumably before evolution became mainstream.

That's funny.... I do not understand any of it....
Let me get my Yoda to english dictionary out... (thumbs through)... Nope. No translation there either.
DA has been known to be rather vivid with words. Sometimes his/her brilliance overcomes us mere mortals.
And as far as believing what I wrote.... I believe many things. I search for answers always and find more than I could ever imagine, usually.

gnu-ehacks: don't try to understand DA, it's far more complicated than programming
About this thread, it's quite easy. The cientific answer would be the egg was first. Evolution happens thanks to mutations, there would be some animal before the chicken (similar, but different), and it wouldn't evolutionate as an individuo (hope you get this word). It wouldn't change itself through its life, but thanks to mutations in its genetical code, it'd put (I don't know the proper Enlish word for this) an egg with different genetical code. From this new egg you'll get the chicken. Once you've got the chicken, every egg afterwards would have the same genetical information as the normal chicken.
I don't know if I explained myself, but at least, it should be easier to understand than DA's
DA: no tengo nada contra tí, nada personal
