    Suggestions on Organizing Files

In the past, i've fallen into the pit of disorganization of my computer files. They start out fine, but then sorta go sloppy. The problem is that i don't have a good foundation for organizing my files.
What i'm basically looking for is suggestions on super categories that everything can branch from, and some sub categories. Any suggestions? How do you organize your files?
