    Unbelievable wind speeds

    BULLETIN
    HURRICANE IVAN UPDATE
NWS TPC/NATIONAL HURRICANE CENTER MIAMI FL
    635 AM AST THU SEP 9 2004

AN AIR FORCE RESERVE RECONNAISSANCE AIRCRAFT INVESTIGATING IVAN
THIS MORNING RECENTLY REPORTED...AT 614 AM AST OR 1014Z...A
FLIGHT-LEVEL WIND OF 154 KT IN THE NORTHEAST QUADRANT. THEY ALSO
REPORTED A LOWER CENTRAL PRESSURE OF 920 MB...SUGGESTING THAT IVAN
MAY CONTAIN SURFACE WINDS A LITTLE STRONGER THAN THE 160 MPH
INDICATED IN THE 5 AM AST ADVISORY. DROPSONDE WIND REPORTS ALSO
INDICATED WINDS OF NEAR 210 MPH AT AN ALTITUDE OF ABOUT 350 FEET
    ABOVE THE OCEAN SURFACE.

    FORECASTER STEWART

This was taken from www.intellicast.com. 210 mph winds in a non-tornadic storm is simply unreal. Nothing will stand up to those winds. Tornado rooms for houses are rated to about 350 to 400....but most houses and structures will fail above 180 mph.

Hope it weakens before it hits Florida, or wherever it is headed.

BTW 1 knot is approx 1.15 mph.

That would be funny if I didn't have friends in Florida that had already been hit by two hurricanes. I guess you can only hope that this one misses.
If I did your homework for you, then you might pass your class without learning how to write a program like this. Then you might graduate and get your degree without learning how to write a program like this. You might become a professional programmer without knowing how to write a program like this. Someday you might work on a project with me without knowing how to write a program like this. Then I would have to do you serious bodily harm. - Jack Klein

At GanglyLamb its no good and never ever will be good to make fun of the pains of others , that hurricane it's not a game, people die in this cases, and several people of my country emigrate to florida, they gonna be helpless without home. And I still didn't found it fun.

Yeah i was just messin sry if this was misinterpreted i know a hurricane is not funny and that the only thing it does is destroy everything what comes on his way...I´ve not experienced it myself ( and i dont want to, to be honest ) but i´ve seen enough films about it on national geographic to know that this is NOT something funny.

I'm from Louisiana, and I originally thought Ivan was headed there. To tell you the truth, I would almost rather it hit home than smack Florida again. Enough is enough.

I went through over 20 typhoons during my time in Okinawa, I found them quite fun. Granted even that island wouldn't stand 200+ mph substained winds but the 120 mph ones did hardly any damage. It is weird that there have been so many strong storms this season and in such a short amount of time.

Well those scientist about the global warming are maybe right after all, this world is changing and rapidly too rapidly to be good, although some say things like all these recent floodings and strange weathers appeared as well millions years ago.
They say its all like a loop which continues...

I dont think that warmer weather would actually cause more storms, but, warmer waters would definately give them more fuel.
