    Question Windows 'Hardwired Fonts'?

    I read the following in an article on The Register:

    "In two years' time much higher pixel densities will make Windows XP's hardwired fonts hard to read, and a modern GUI was considered a necessity..."

    What does this mean, 'hardwired fonts'? Are there any particular fonts I should avoid using in applications?

    Maybe they mean bitmap fonts?
