hi is there a way of deleting my own posts?
the 'Delete this message' button I think works quite well.
That is on the page after you click "edit" to edit your post, just to clear things up.
thanks for the replies. apologies, i should have been more specific... is there a way of deleting my own ROOT posts? apparently if the thread is answered it seems that they cannot be. donot know if feasible when they havent still been answered.
AFAIK, you cannot delete the origional post in a thread. Only moderators can do that.
It was changed as deleting the first post deletes the thread. This is pretty unfair if someone has gone to the effort to answer you only to have that response trashed.
I'm pretty suspect about people deleting posts. If it's a case that a question has been answered then I think it should stay there for other readers and future searches.
If you really feel a thread should be removed, PM myself or another mod and we'll see what we can do
i also agree that if smn has given his time to help you and you thrash this does not look nice.
but, the reason i was asking how can someone delete his own root posts was because i posted a question in which i found the answer before anyone answering anything to that in the forum. so there was no reason for that to be posted anymore and i wanted to delete it in order to save the readers time and space from the server. posting another reply with "Hi, this question has been resolved" would be a further waste of resources.
regards
It's often helpful if you post your answer in case someone does a search for that same topic later on.
