Smile AP results the first week of July

Just got back from grading those APCS Part B questions.

    I saw many things:

    elegant code/solutions,

    good code/solutions

    bad code/solutions

    and the really really ugly.

Saddest moment: Someone in my question group found money in the exam booklet with a note. Nice try at a bribe.

Some observations to those who care:

    1. Follow directions- only do what is asked on the question- lot of student got nailed on this.

    2. Write neat- hard to read code- may have cost some students points because we could not legibly read the code.

    3. Do not get "cute" with the code- if you can do "cute" do it correctly. Most people tried "cute" but fail miserably. Just solve the program the simpliest way.

Six days of grading 8am 4:15pm. Not much at Clemson.

We were with the AP Human Geography crowd.

AP Chemistry and AP Env Science was at Clemson the week before us.

A worker for ETS said your grades will be sent to you at the first of the month- you should know around July 4.

Good luck- on your scores. Any other questions on grading specs-let me know.

Wait a sec.. You mean the code was hand written onto paper? What crack smoker came up with that idea? IMO code that is submitted should be typed, just like essays. It is neater, easier to read, and allows for people who have poor hand writting to be on equal footing as the rest.

AP essays are written on paper also..

at times it could take longer to type out the solutions, less error in a comp needing to be restarted, or the comp going through some error..

Hell provide typewriters then. There is no reason for these exams to be hand written.

i find it ironic that they make you write the code, considering quite a few coders out there have horrible handwriting, lol. I dunno bout any of you but my handwriting hasn't improved much since i was in 5th grade, lol

I think mine has taken a rather steep downward turn since then.

Mine was used as the bases for a military encryption scheme. Its too bad they haven't been able to figure out a way to decode it yet

ROFL! I hope I can bump up your reputation, because if it tells me I have to spread more rep points, I'm going to randomly assign people rep points just to bump yours up! Between cursing at the monitor, I may add.

Hand written code? Oh, goody! Then my coding on notebook paper in math, english, geography, well, all my classes , will pay off! I always sit in class and write code on notebook paper, and then when I get home I transfer it all to the computer, or if I find a better algorithm, I'll put THAT in as well. You know what they say, you do something twice and you get better results .
