The paradox of command and control

I think that one of the major problems that we are encountering here stems from one of the more basics notions of command and control of a population. Too few rules do too little, too many rules are easily forgotten and turn out to be the same as have too few rules. Their isn't much hope for these boards, unfortunately, because of the trench that we have dug ourselves into. I stick by this board because i am confident that more people like Betazep (spelled correctly), -Ken-, DA, [stealth], and ric will turn up and turn the tide.

What we really need is to erase the past, and that is impossible.

When people see the tremendous amount of spam and crap on these forums, they say to themselves "since everyone is spamming, no one will mind if i spam", and this digs us into a very deep hole. The only solution would be to go on a post holocause (of sorts) and go back and delete the spamming posts or delete entire accounts or wipe the forums of all posts completely. Although this seems a bit harsh, it is really the only way that we will fix our problem. This forums is damaged beyond repair. If the mods had intervened (or even if the webmaster intervened) in the early stages of this ugly turn around, we may have recovered before going full on into ridiculosity and jumped aboard the train to ultimate destruction.

We have very few choices, if any, to turn this around, but one must remember that doing things fast leads to undoing things faster. This could bring about a quicker demise for these boards. Maybe what we need is a sever account deletion run. Maybe we need to 1/3 some peoples post counts and/or change their title permanently or just delet their title all together. Titles are a privaledge that only those that are mature enough to not post 400 posts of crap should have.

Stay the path, and don't become hypocrits, Moderators. You guys can turn this situation around, i'm sure. Don't give up on us, because there are far more good members on this board than there are cheating buckets of spam.

    Do it for the fans.

Is that some kind of "indirect" message against me?

if so, you're not going to throw me out as easily as you did *Michelle*

put a post per day limit

make a post per day limit and dont let anonymous users post, that might help a little.

if that rule would be applied, this would turn into a very boring board!, look at the so-called legit posters, they have at least 5 posts per day.

But I like the idea of having a posting limit, but no so tight.

Osk, i have no problem with you at all.. .in fact, you aren't that bad... I don't understand how you could see that foray as an attack on your CProg person.

I was trying to point out how futile an attempt to fix things now would be, unless the change was rather severe...

I'm sorry if I misinterpreted it, I feel outraged right now, if you want to know the reason, visit the "Michelle" thread and read my two last messages, but for some strange reason, I beleive that you have already done so. Now, if you see my message, and look yours as a reply to mine, you'll understand why did I post what I did.
