    Human Stupidity....Beyond help?

    Allow me to rant, plz:

Common Sense. By Definition is "Sound judgment not based on specialized knowledge; native good judgment.". A native ability abondoned by the majority of our population. Usually i am included in that majority, at least i know it.

On one side we have people suing mcdonalds and such for making them fat. Dumb <edit>'s, i mean jebus people cant u see how STUPID you look? Thats like me suing my barber because i didnt get a date. Or taking my mom to court for having me casuing a lifetime of pain and...fatness. I mean holy crap how dumb can u BE???

So on to another view of society. Here we have bill. Bill kills people for no apparent reason other than he thinks its funny. So what do we do? We get into a moral argument, involving goverment by the way (i know, thats paragraph four), about the death penalty. Then we argue about jailing him. So now hes your 10 year old girls substitue teacher on crack and ridilen. Wow, nice fix.

Goverment. I dont get it, neither do most of us. Why? Cuz it doesnt make any sense. One party explains another, were run by circular logic! I like blue because i do. Vote bush because you vote. I mean crap....it makes your head hurt. We have media making all kinds of buzz....o, media!

Media is the catalyst of all we despise. Our former presiendet commits adultry, ok join those who do it everyday, and the media is like OMG what do we do??? Impeach!! What do we do? We shoot those who give a damn and life goes on.

War. Yea that will solve a problem. Sure, make it all about honor and crap yea i want to die for a bull$$$$ cause for HONOR WOOOHOOOO.

What sparked this post? O thats an easy one.So im bored tonight, nothing new. So i am on aim and i send a message to my buddy Confuted. He says hey, im this person and flirt with her or something.

So ok, i did. In under 10 minutes i was able to convince a total stranger that she not only knew me from a party of a guy who i also dont know, but that she had actually hooked up with me at this party.

Using a made up life, name, and aquaintences i spent the next hour putting a memory into her head that she never had, yet totally accepts as true. What does this mean? That im an ass, ok we all knew that. It proves that the human race is so amazingly gullable as a whole, that a life can be totally made up and accepted as true for the wants of curiosity.

Using facts that ANYONE could have made up, i got this going. Granted Confuted was feeding me info, but i could have done without it.

I then insulted her after getting a picture of her to see her reaction. Did she block/curse me? Nope, i was able to not only get her back onto me, but had i not diverted from it i could have EASILY had her # and called her simply by giving her a false memory that i had already once had it.

So flip it back on me. I actually kinda like her now. What the hell happened....So now i have to eventually admit what i did, and talk my way out of it. I can, but the point remains.

Im appauled at what we have become as a whole, and the worst part is knowing its all downhill from here. So attached is the log file from aim minus the screen names for privacy. There may be bad content, i really dont member. (Language, no anything else).

    Wow, ignorance is bliss.

Yes, society as a whole is going downhill very fast in my opinion.

Of course each country has their own problems, and as I live in America, I can only speak for America's problems, and not for any other country's.

Many people blame the American government for being corrupt and that is why there are so many problems in America, and I think that is partially correct, however, I also think people are just trying to place the blame on someone else when they should realize it is actually themselves that could be the problem.

For one thing, the Bill of Rights in America, one of the greatest documents in American history, and the 1st 10 amendments to our Constitution, is being heavily abused.

Like RoD said, we have people suing McDonalds for making them fat, for making coffee too hot, etc. We have people suing prisons because the cake is too crumbly (seriously, we do).

I am taking a class called American Heritage at college, and it is all about this kind of stuff. It really makes you think. We watched a video clip in class on Wednesday in which a speaker came to the University of Texas to speak about Affirmative Action (he was anti-affirmative action), and a group of students drove him off of campus because they felt their rights had been violated by him just being on the campus? Where do you get that crap?

He was invited by the university to speak to anyone who was interested in the topic. Several students might have wanted to hear what he wanted to say. Instead a small group of students rallies a protest and drives him off of campus saying their "rights" have been violated by him being on the campus.

What "rights" were violated? Freedom of religion? No. Freedom of speech? No. In fact, if anyone was violating the freedom of speech, it was the students. Freedom of press? definitely not. Freedom of the right of the people to peaceably assemble? that right was being broken by the riotous students, definitely not the guest speaker. Freedom to bare arms? no. I could go on and on, but I wont.

This isn't the only case. It is happening all over America. Schools are the hardest hit out of any place. Why is that? Very simple answer: the degredation of the family.

The family has degraded to a point where schools have to raise the children of America, because families sure wont do it. Schools have to teach them what is right and wrong, so on and so forth. Of course they cant do that can they? Because everyone has a different idea of what is right and what is wrong. Everybody has a different idea about morals. So schools cant teach morals, they cant teach right and wrong, they can only teach the basic math, science, and reading. So schools have to raise the kids because families wont, yet schools dont have the capabilities to raise them because of the society in America today.

And of course if a teacher in a school ever DOES try and take action and discipline a child in some manner, what do the parents do? Get angry of course. THEIR child could NEVER be THAT bad. THEIR child could NEVER do THAT. It is impossible. So what happens? The parents end up suing the school district for a teacher disciplining their child, because they are too prideful and arrogant to realize that their child might actually have caused a problem in school and needed to be disciplined. That is how quite a lot of parents are in America these days. I saw it with my own eyes almost every day back in high school and such.

These problems have become so apparent to me that I have often thought about abandoning Computer Science altogether and going into politics because I am so angry at today's society.

People need to learn that it isn't ME ME ME in this world. In my American Heritage class we learn about two views that are in the world: virtue and self interest.

Virtue is doing your best in all you do for the common good of all people.

Self interest is doing what you are interested to get gain for yourself.

An ideal good society would be based upon virtue, where all people help others, however, being human, this is not realistic. Therefore, a balance is needed between virtue and self interest that can make society work.

When self interest becomes too rampant, however, as it has become in America today, society will falter. It will stumble. And it will eventually fall. A good society CANNOT be based completely on self interest, or it will fail, and it looks as if that is the direction America is heading right now, because its people are too worried about themselves.

People are too worried about getting ahead in the world and becoming rich, getting all the sex they need to satisfy themselves, drinking at bars late at nights, so on and so forth. They rarely stop to help anyone anymore.

Granted, there are still several people who have lots of virtue, but the general society of America is losing it and going way off into self interest mode.

This is the human predicament. It will eventually lead to either tyranny or anarchy, even if it takes a couple hundred years, one of them will occur.

I think I could continue to rant forever, in fact I was about to go into what I really think about the term "politically correct." (I don't like it, by the way), but I will spare it. I have already made a very long post.

    Anyways, those are my thoughts.

First, I don't think someone may criticize the intelligence of others while exhibiting such poor grammar.

This sentence caught my attention in particular, and i thank you for bringing it up.

When i was in grade K, we were told to color in these coloring books. I chose grapes, and apparently i colored them black. My teacher attempted to place me in remedial classes, and when my dad found out he raised holy hell. Why? Because i was a creative child. Art (not PC lol) and english writing have always been my strong creative points. I spent the next two months in and out of slow classes because my teacher claimed i was stupid because grapes arent black.

Anyone else see this problem? There was no consoltaion of the parent, and it took me three years to get into mainstream where i belonged. I see more and more where parents are being cut out of the loop with schools with no choice or knowledge of it whatsoever because the school "knows whats best". So who shapes society today? Schools, those with money, and media. Sure, alot of parents are truely unfit, but i think most are simply out-played.

One who types is a typist, not a "typer."

I greatly appreciate the time some take to make their posts readable. It shows respect for those who will read it.

You make a good point, RoD.

I do agree with you that in many cases schools are doing too many things without parental consent and might have too much power. There are still many good parents in America, and many good families.

Therefore, there are faults on both sides of the conflict.

I think one major problem is that school boards do not truly represent the people, and that is causing a lot of conflict in schools today. In school districts all over the country, the school boards are passing rules that well over the majority of the population in that district disagree with. It is almost tyrannical in nature.

So how will we fix these problems in our society? Well...maybe we can discuss that...

Josh: I will try and be more clear in my future posts, i apologize.

    >>So how will we fix these problems in our society?

Honestly? Without money i dont think we can, david. Those who make things happen are those who have the deepest pockets. The problem is that, even aside from financial power, those who get elected into important positions often get there by playing the political game. Thus, many of these people in office are not to our benifit. Why? Simple; With the way politics are today, anyone who wins by playing the "game" doesnt have the same morals and values of the Candidate who would have made a difference. That is shown by the level they will drop too for votes.

Candidate A made one mistake in third grade during a spelling B, but its more than qualified for the position he/she is running for.

Candidate B is a joke, and uses the one mistake of Candidate A to win all of the votes.

Moral? We have a low-life with no qualifications making our decisions. Thank our media for this flawless system.

    >>the degredation of the family

Thats because of lower wages / higher prices.
So both parents have to work to make ends meet, therefore less supervision. Look at attitudes (of men) to women working as late as the '70s. Why did this change?

Becareful whom you believe in the media. Watch for the double bluff.....

    >>for making coffee too hot<<
Look this one up. Read the facts. Might change your mind.

1 McD's keeps the coffee at scalding temperatures because it retains its flavour longer.
2 I have spilt coffee on myself but it has never burnt me so bad that I needed skin grafts (as the woman involved did).
3 McD's could have settled for $10,000 (half the medical bill), rejected the arbitration recomendation of a settlement in the $100,000's, cost them $mills in court. Why?
4 How many other cases of this do McD's get per year? That is, did they know the temperature of their coffee is a health hazard?

Remember that it could be McD'd (and their insurance company) 'spinning' a valid case, making it seem ridiculous, for their own adgenda.

    >>Our former presiendet commits adultry, ok join those who do it everyday, and the media is like OMG what do we do??? Impeach!!<<

Like most you seem to miss the point of the Clinton Impeachment.

It was not because he commited adultery.

It was because he lied under oath about it. It was because he did not seem to need the consent of the women involved.

He did what ever he could to hide these facts and deny justice to the women he had hurt.

What else was he prepared to lie about?
Is a proven liar and fraud good enough to be president?

I'm glad I didnt' have to explain this one, again. This is probably the most misunderstood "frivolous" lawsuit ever. The woman had her labia fused, for God's sakes. Coffee should be hot, it shouldn't be that hot.

Your right i did miss the point of the impeachment argument, its actually a good one in that sense.

The coffee lawsuit was, like novacain said, entirely Mc's fault. They denied the alternatives and in turn lost alot of money. I say bravo to the lady for taking them on with a valid lawsuit.

Having yourself burnt badly is not a stupidity suit, omg MC's made me fat, is.

sorry way too much for me to read at the moment...but the common theme i've noticed: blame the society. No! I don't agree, blame your damn selves. People who blame the society are cowards, looking for something to blame other then themselves.

Your right. And now we can bring in another factor of discussion.

Hypocrisy! Everyday we see people complain, argue, and act in ways that they justify by various points. Often, we can be associated among these people. These are the same of us who then commit the same acts and crimes they are "against" when behind closed doors.

Example? Sure. Locally we like to ride our quads and dirtbikes as we are surrounded by land. This sport is often interrupted by the Game Wardens who run the state land we ride. Was this always state land? Nah, just recently became that.

My point? These same Game Wardens ride the land and do more damage then us because they can. Hypocrisy and ignorance at its best.
