    Nostalgia - 1968 Cortina.

I was at a car dealers today looking for a new car, (well I wouldn't have been looking for a toaster there would I). I noticed an old Mustang, and as I wandered over to look at it, I turned a corner and found a cornucopia of classic cars lined up, all immaculate, (and very expensive). One particulaly caught my eye, a 1968 Ford Cortina Mk II, okay, only a 1300 De Luxe, not a 1600E but a Mk II.

When I passed my driving test in 1976, the Mk II was the babe magnet. Everyone my age wanted one, as a result they were rare, (espeacially the 1600E with the walnut dashboard). Still, it was great to "pat" an old friend again. If I had a big enough garage to properly care for such a machine, I would have paid cash for it on the spot.

Naturally I didn't feel inspired enough to read all the links for you, since I already slaved away for long hours under a blistering sun pressing the search button after typing four whole words! - Quzah

    Nice.

Much better than the mk1 and mk2 escorts.....Capri was the biggest babe magnet when that arrived though.

Adrian, 29900 (euros I'm assuming), that's some big bucks. Looks like adrian is a high-roller.

Hell, this is the third time now I have written this, I hope the board is stable now.

    >>> Ooops, my bad. Does Denmark use the Euro?

No, we negotiated an opt out on the UK model at the Glasgow summit. Whne the time came, we chose to use the opt out,

A referendum in 2000 had a narrow majority against joining, something like 52% No, 48% Yes. Of course a short while later when everyone could see it working and had used it on holiday, everyone was saying "I voted Yes, don't n´know what all the fuss was about" - like yeah!

We are expecting another referendum soon at which there will be a huge Yes majority.

And.....you can keep it. It is not welcome here. Maybe we should replace the Euro with the Pound?

I think it is sad the UK remains so isolated, not just on the Euro, but on many fronts, the UK does one thing the rest of the members do something else. The UK is happy to accept the benefits of the open market and free trade area.

No matter, it doesn't affect me really that much.

Its fair to say we give a lot more than we take...

Some people are just fed up with European red tape thats all.

Not all UK residents are anti-euro zealots.

I think there will be a time where joining the Euro will be worth it....

Sorry, but I can't hold myself back. THAT was a chick magnet? It looks like a little budget car. If I was a girl going out with a guy in that car, I would ask if he borrowed it from his mother.
