Now really, what happened with all those warriors? What about Saruman?
Or they followed the rule "take no prisoners"?

The movie shows only an idillic happy-end (à la Hollywood).
I haven't read the book, maybe there are more details.

Saruman didn't end up in his tower in the books like he did in the movie. He went to Shire. Sad that they didn't add that in the movie :/.
