I am totally disgusted.
I do not care that the lives wasted were flies, ants and ladybirds.
This evening, the program has just finished, a cute concept was to take people from particular industries, and present them with a simple choice, you accept a challenge, or give up the chance of a 3 week holiday.
One of the guys was a zoo keeper from Randers Regnskov, (the site is available in English), it is a rain forest in greenhouses, not the biggest in the world, but a big attraction in Denmark. His "challenges" were to kill with a hammer, captive animals, albeit flies, ants, and ladybirds, in order to go through to win the chance of a 3 week holiday.
How on Earth a reputable company like DR, (Denmarks Radio - like the BBC in England), could stand behind such a thing amazes and disgusts me. It is not clear yet if the animals were genuine live animals, or simulated, but, I suggest, it is immaterial. How anyone can sanction winning a holiday by killing, or appearing to kill defenceless animals is unthinkable.
The program is called "Endelig Fredag", translates to "Finally Friday" or similar, and is presented by "Amin Jensen".
I would ask that anyone who even remotely is concerned about animal welfare write a mail to the following, write in English, that is not a problem. They'll know.
