    C#

What do you think about this language? It is relativley fast, portable (at least once .NET goes elsewhere ( )), and has some novel ideas built in. It also adds some features missing to Java, such as direct memory access via "unsafe" code. It works well with Windows (of course), along with the Internet in a way similar to Java's. In my opinion, it takes some of the best ideas in Java and C++, and mixes them into a language that continues the C line (I still like C++ the best for its raw power, however ). So what do you guys think about it? Does it have some good ideas behind it? Do you think it'll last? I look forward to your opinions !

I'll eventually learn it, Java sucks!! I mean it sucks, it's a verry high leval language! No direct access to anything, everyone in my comp. sci. class thinks the language is hard though.. I would rather code aplets with C# - I'm asuming it's similar to C++ of cource.

    Applets with C# - .

Anyway, Java isn't that bad. It, just like every language out there, has its purpose.

Java ........es me off. I spend 4 years learning C++, then I look at the university course I'm planning to take in a years time (Bachelor of Information Technology (Software Engineering) ), and its all about Java!

So I decide to learn java, so I go to the Java ranch, and it tells me to download the J2SE SDK. So I go there and its 116mb!! Do they think everyones on broadband?!?! Golly

Yes I know, to use any other language I'd need to download an interpreter or compiler so its just the same... but the SDK doesn't even come with an IDE

I'll have to hunt around for someone with broadband or who has already downloaded it now

And all this time I thought you could.. what's the deal with .net then? I thought it was for aplets, so Java is the onely language to do that in, that sucks!
